Looking for a new bass guitar $1k-2k range

hmm, thinking about it... i prefer a natural woodgrain finish. most stingrays are acrylic coated?

you can consider getting warwick basses, specifically the corvette std and the thumb bolt-on. Both have killer tone with nice natural finishes, and they fall within the price range =)

for theperfectbass... if you're ordering before the end of the month, use coupon code SuperMay08 for a nice discount :)

don't forget to give them a call for a quote on shipping.

if you don't mind, you can try to get a 2nd-hand bass, it's value-for-money.
you can get a $3k 2nd-hand warwick corvette for $1k+

heard the necks are prone to warpage because of our climate here in singapore?

unfortunately yes.. i had a warwick corvette and i had to tweak it once every few mths, plus all the waxing to be done. a pity since its such a well built instrument..

if you clean your neck diligently after playing and keep it in a secure gig bag/case when it's not in use, shouldn't have any problems.

i use a Warwick Streamer Standard and the neck is healthy even after 2 years.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far... i owe it to myself now (if I can find the time!) to check out Swee Lee and Sinamex for the Fender Jazz and the MusicMan respectively... think those 2 basses are the ones that seem to be standing out. Both are slightly over budget though but we'll see how it goes... maybe budget is slightly flexible. If they don't work out I may consider the BTB or the TRB from Yamaha instead.. I like the modern looks of these 2 instruments with the 3 piece sandwiched bodies... only problem is they are both 35" scale which might take a bit of getting used to for me. cheers.

damn, hahaha.i forgot to state that in my previous comments.

anyways their web has one of the most soothing music ever..

hmm i have a friend who used to own a warwick corvette, but he had to send it for tweaking and adjustment like once every few months, so in the end he sold it because of the relatively high maintenance cost.

anyway all the best for your new bass acquisition, indigo_blues! :D

it's the humidity and changes in temperature that will kill a warwick.. so if you decide to get one, don't keep it in your room if you turn the aircon on and off every so often. keep it in a cool, dry place and try not to leave it in car boots :)
