Local Drumers!

hey thats a really cool idea to post ur sets online like this!
sorry guys i dun have any pics of my set (will try my best to get a digicam) but here are my specs

ayotte drumsmith in dark walnut and bright red

10x9
12x10
16x14
22x16

14x5 dw
14x7 legend

dw 5000 single pedal

i generally use 5B's or sometimes 5A's. The new anti-vibe sticks my zildjian are a godsend i tell u they really do work but are a tab expensive abt 24 a pair. i use wire brushes, regal tip i think i can't really remember . the retractable type, although i dun really recommend this model as the wires tend to get damaged if u pull them out and in too often. buy the ones that have a wooden handle good for those side sticks.

i generally use evan heads on my drums. the G2's clear or coated are real good if ur tuning isn't wat it should be. mine defintitely isn't. I tend to use remo for my snare though, batter and resonant. Ambassador's do it for me but evans reverse power dot are really nice too.

i got a bunch of zildjians and 1 sabian splash
the sabian is a mike portnoy model. i love them really pingy almost like crotales. the hi hats a real mix of the scimitar series on the bottom and A quick beats on the top. they kinda suck really but hey i ran out of cash. i got an A custom 16inch crash and the rest are the scimitar series cymbals.

okie i could go on forever. heh

regards mark

double floor tom

hey dryfinish

really nice set up u got there i was wondering is there a reason why you have two floor toms set up like u do?
for asthetic reasons or does ur playing style require u to play like that?
regards mark

hey its really awesome too see our local drummers come together like that haha never thought with would happen and kram/mark i set up my toms like that cuz i prefer my ride closer to me cuz i do quite alot of work on the ride namely this but also due to the fact my room is not as big as it looks but i do prefer this set up of the toms like this haha just erm preference i guess? due to the playing style too i guess like the tom to tom and snare mix of rolls i do haha :)

Drummer unite.....

Hahahahaha.... Cool.... you people have fantastic drum kits man......
How long do most of you take to complete you "Dream setup"?????

Mine will take ages man..... Just bought a kit last year......

No pics though.... But i think words will do....

Here it goes:

Tama Stage Star 5 Piece.......(Can't remember the sizes)

14" Sabian B8 Hi Hats
16" Sabian B8 Crash
10" Orion Solo Master Splash
18" Orion Paper Thin Crash
16" Orion Solo Master China
22" Sabian Ride

Hardwares are: Mostly Tama Boom Stand and Tama Clamps but i have a cheap boom stand i think it's a Carlos.....
Tama Single pedal(Comes with the kit it self)

But im thinking of upgrading to a Starclassic or rockstar with Tama Iron Cobra Twin pedal's and maybe more effect cymbals and crashes......

hey killer clover pretty nice set u have there.. and its pretty hard for us drummers in singapore to live the dreams of our dream set, as firstly its kinda ex and soundproofing will have to come in and space and all.. my dream set would be odv. a dw or a pearl master works retrospec.. have u seen it? its just sinfull lookin at them! wahahaha.

Yup2

Thank dryfinish...... Yup what you say is right..... The Dream kits are real expensive....... and most of us are living in HDB and if the massive kits are station in our rooms it'll be really loud and the men in blue will come knocking.... Hahahaha

Ok i've gotten the image up ......
Here's my kit....

hey ur welcome killerclover and nice set up ur cymbal placement is almost the same as mine ya notice haha and how dose those orion cymals sound? and how much was it? ive seen them in jamming studios but cant remember how they sound like..

hi guys,

i'm new here and sure glad to find a place to talk drums. anyway, about gear, i'm using a DTX 2.0. Gave up on acoustic kits (for home i mean) as electronics solves the noise problem, which is really crucial i guess for most of us here. so nothing much to show as u guys noe how the DTX looks.

anyway, been seeing some of the nice kits. saw some using coated remos. i love coateds too as it got this dry warm sound to it. i don't really have a brand preference but i like to play the drums wide open, without muffling except the kick. and some tuning is crucial for me too! e.g. snares abit tight and toms loose generally. alrite theres just too much to say. will chat more as i go along. hope to hear from u. take care.

you can differentiate the snare and tom sounds. But it really just feels better to HEAR what you are playing... i would recommend a electronic drumset if you are just practicing - but i don't use one, so i don't really know about the long term problems (like the sensors in the pads losing their "sensitivity")

yea, nothin beats an acoustic kit. but there are some benefits with electronics. the most impt would be the sound problem of course. also, you can def hear yourself on edrums. u've a headphone monitor and u can link ur cd player, mp3 etc to the module. when i wanna practice to a track, i find it's easier on edrums as the sound is so clear and any mistakes are evident. but acoustic drums can kinda drown out the cd sound unless u are mixed into microphones with in ear monitoring and that's a real hassle and costly u noe. there's just pros and cons to it but if i've got the means, acoustic kits for sure. meantime, edrums are good enough for me.

i got it 2nd hand 4 years ago. at that time it was only abt a year old.cheapest unfortunately is still abt 2k. the dtxpress i think. anyone knnow of anythin cheaper pls share.

Well it sounded ok for cheap cymbals.....
Well i bought it at the jamming studio where i frequently go to.....
I bought most of it for about a range of $100 to 150.....
And with boom stand and clamps.......

I think i got a cheap price coz im a regular there......

hearing the click

yo wassup trento, on ur problem to not hearing the click and buying in ear monitors being expensive heres wat i do:

i get a pair of cheap industrial grade mufflers, get the blue ones cause their not so tight on the ears. get ur ear phones which u use everyday i recommend the in ear ones from sony but any are fine. put ur ear phones on then place the mufflers over it. there u go cheap and easy.

hey killerclover u got the cymbals and the stands all came with it for under 150? thats pretty cheap actually where u got it from wee lee?

another way to solve the monitor problem is just get a pair of noise cancelling headphones, they really work if ure getting a good pair and u can hear the song loud and clear and also hear ur drums, without the drums over-riding the song.

One of the boss in wee lee whose station at bmc in bedok sold it to me......
I'm a regular there so he sold it to me....
Im not sure if he'll sell those cymbals to anyone though.......

actually the pasite 101 ride is really not bad.. haha my friend has it.. and it has a nice big crash sound and also a pretty decide ride for that price.. if im not wrong u can get that with a hihat and crash as a package for under 200 hehe :D

If you are interested in getting pasite cymbals, do pop by ranking sports & Music at Bras Basah. They are giving 15% off on all pasite cymbals for this coming year end christmas sale.
