Little Or No Distortion, Help! :confused:

Hi Guys,


My guitar recently suddenly started to change , soundwise.
The distortion is now weak and nearly nonexistent, even with the gain at maximum.
Can someone give any suggestions on how to fix this?
The sound just suddenly changed

Btw my guitar is a Schecter C1-FR and i'm using a Meteoro practice amp

erm.. a guitar by itself, cant produce distortion..

You mean theres a distortion circuit within the geetar?

anyway, your description is super unclear and rather impossible to know whats really happening and thus whatever help we can give, prolly just based on what you said.

anyway, before anything, heres a few more question

1) Is your geetar a passive or active one?


2) Your distortion is from where??? Amp or pedals

3) What have you done to find out whats the problem?

4) Changed cables? Changed battery? Changed guitar to try?

5) Guitar straight to amp connect, gettar still sound the same? If not the same, change cable and try again

6) If geetar straight to amp and sounding ok, then put the pedals in between and try it over again

7) If distortion is from amp, ignore the above.

8 ) no more i can think of. Try harder to give a better description of the problem

9) Forget bout everything, bring to geetar tech and check. Geetar and pedals or amp together

1) Is your geetar a passive or active one?

Most likely it will be due to the battery in your active circuit dying. If your distortion is coming from a pedal, your battery in the pedal is most probably dying.

Hi Guys, sorry took so long to reply


I just sent it to Maestro Guitar Hospital, The guy says it has something to do with a wiring problem, cos i tried changing the pickup batteries and it still didnt work properly.

Oh yea and btw,

1) My guitar uses active seymour duncan pickups

2)My distortion comes from the amp itself, dont use any distortion pedals,
3)Ive tried changing the pickup battery, tried it with my other guitar. The other guitar works fine, so the problem must lie with the amp

4) Yes, Yes, Yes =)

5)Yeah it still sounds the same
