Listen..Digital or Analog?

haha.. id say the overdrive and dist tones are digital as well ...
they were very trebly and scooped. unless the player deliberately EQed this sound la... i dont think a high gain tube amp would sound like that.
Though it is possible for a metal zone type pedal for give this type of sound.

well since the thread starter seemed to wanna prove
"digital is just as good compared to analog"

as a analog and ex digital user.. id say both can sound very similar at bed room volumes... but feel worlds apart. when you play loud stage volume. its completely obvious.

It doesn't make anyone special if they can hear the minute difference in details, it depends on how much you want to do about your own tone. Like what Shredcow had mentioned, to each his own...audience probably can't tell, some players probably can't tell. If you can make it better for yourself through any possible means, why not?

It's not very appropriate to assume no one will know whether you are using digital/analogue, likewise for analogue users to slam on advocates for digital processing....it doesn't make anyone better in terms of proficiency on the music itself.

damnesia: i'm going with the opinion thats its digital. but then with high gain metal, who can really tell. its got no mojo and its just got this digital vibe. but go ahead, shock me if i'm wrong k? :)

damnesia..i think its digital...coz of the high compression ..that i hear..

any way ..for me i always prefer digital due to the following reason.
-digital modeller are cheaper and getting better/real and more tone variety for the money.
-easy to record ..(can direct ..no need to mic in ..but off course u can do that too :))
-not that noisy like some old school analog pedals..
-can save patches on the pc ..(for recovery incase accidental deletion)

oh btw but when plug in ...to a tube mic preamp/poweramp can "fine tune" the digital tone to more warmth ala analog..

and the analog tone can also be digitalize..so ..the argument seems endless..you need to hear it live and loud to be able to tell the difference..
the way the tone/sound encoded in mp3 or whatever format ..will loose part of its actual tone..
technology is improving so i embrace it ..but i use combination of both..

oh btw can record new song???name the song KASUT..hehe :)

listen (not watch)..digital or analog..
the thread title says it all..
for recording i dont mind using digital or analog..whichever fx that can produce the sound that i want, i will use it..

if u watch a person playing live, then i'll say most of the time we'll know whether its analog or digital..its simply becoz its not a record u r listening to..ur listening to live music..

so there u got the answer..i use both analog and digital fx guys for the recordings..:P

the reason u guys tink its digital might be becoz im using software modulation/delay fx to further enhance my sound..making it sounds 'perfect' to me..
some of the sounds created are pure analog recorded straight to my soundcard unprocessed..and some are created using a multifx board.

This is something I really find it... weird.

Players always/usually/often counter the arguement to purchase "better" (note: "better" not necessarily analog/digital) gear with the notion that... heck the audience can't hear lah so why bother?!?

Absolutely NO PRIDE on one's own personal tone. NO PRIDE I SAY!

Of course, disclaimer - IMHO.

When you mixdown your recordings and ask an implicit false question of digital (and exclusive or) XOR analog, there isn't much of a fair game, is there?

nobody will ever know whether im using digital or analog fx..
click 'www' below and tell me with confidence, digital or analog..

i use both analog and digital fx guys for the recordings.. :P

This is akin to asking, do you think this is a cup of coke or pepsi, then laughing AHA IT'S BOTH!

and chanmin im not proving digital is as good as analog

im proving that most of the time u cant tell its analog or digital just by listening to his records...more harder or cant tell the diff at all if the guitarist knows how to tweak.

set menu A or ala carte?
after intense processing, shit comes out.
so to me, no difference.
...and i cant tell too..only the player himself will know

Point noted. Let's move on now.

damnesia, pls list the efx unit or pedals used specifically from track 1 to 4. From there, we'll bring the discussion further.

When we talk analogue/digital, it usually applies to drive units/amps and delay. Modulation are all digital in every sense

i must be a food tongue genius! didnt knwo u all cant differentiate between coke and pesi from tasting it

I recall a little arguement about how one cannot taste the difference between ice creams... remember Edder? :P Twas Epic in scope!
