Saw them at City Music today. As expected, the price is keeping me rooted at dreamer level rather than owner level, lol.

But I haven't got a chance to hear it in action. Anybody has?

Oh yes these. Hmmm.........i dunno......it's hard bcos the Spider Valve series(in fact all of Line 6's amps) are modelling amps so they dun have their own specific tone. It's jus the quality of the reproduction that matters. The design is by Bogner, so i'm inclined to think that they may sound like Bogner amps. I dunno, go give 'em a test drive 1st.

It's here?!!! Great... I'll be heading down for a test drive soon then. The head version could be my next amp target. :)

i have tested it!!! hehe... and i tell u, in my opinion, u won't regret it. the tube sound tht is coming out of the amp, well i can say tht it does haf a bit of resemblance to bogner amps. but due to the amp modelling. it does sound alil diff.. its all good. its a great amp. i will get the HD100, the whole stack when i am ready.

wait...u mean u wont regret it? I dont get u homie.

it responded very well to my playing.. u can haf control of ur dynamics in ur playing and it response well to it. ur bends, ur picking, clean and clear. and oso very warm. Ask dhalif!! he noes best.. i bet he played tht amp several times.

I guess Line6 Modelling is done before bogners's preamp section or between bogner's preamp and power amp section. so theres bogner's 'flavor' or coloration in the sound of every line6 models. am i rite to say this?

so if i get a podx3 live and connect it before or after preamp of a Marshall tube amp, I get a Spider Valve Marshall version with super control of tons of effects and models compared to HD100. this is what i tink.

i realli like some of line6 stuffs but definitely not this one.

What?! The HD100 is in too? The last i heard from them is that the head is coming in later... Sometime in January. I've yet to read any reviews of the head version so is it confirmed that the head is in too?

I see. From what I know, the spider valve amp is closer to the vibe of a pod into an atomic reactor as opposed to a H&K switchblade. Almost almost there, but still not quite the killer tube sound. Something along the lines of the depth and presence which is missing - you have to A/B it against the amps which it's trying to emulate to hear this. But it has mucho versatility, which I think is not bad of a trade-off.

i think what u have just said almondx is quite true.. i dun really noe how to go into details. but to say that you can get the full tube feel, mmm.. i don't really think that u will but at the same time you do get tht tube sound.. its like, u noe its tube sound but u noe that its not on a full tube potential? ya.. but for the spider vavle, i say u wont regret it, cuz its like u get the best of both worlds. nice amp modelling without sacrificing the tube sound! hehe.. it does sound warm. and that is wat i love abt it.

hmm i agree with Nomis ...think is worthy ..
i`ve tested twice...and waiting for the head version ..

the combo is value for money.A tube poweramp alone is like 1k already and with the speakers maybe another 300 ..So for me its worth it...
Just look at it this way , tone vs price ..sweet without burning the pocket.

My only perks is that there is no extension cabinets jack ..weak man!!!

Overall value for money, reasonable tone (12 amps plus effects and can do patching)only that it lacks the "spongey" tube amp feel ...

those that are not convinced go and test !!!quick run ..haha :)

im waiting for the head just like the others ..

Ok. So I guess it's NOT the HD 100 that I saw

That being said, I personally think the fact that it is a definite tube sound coming from it (albeit its lackings) and the versatility of it being able to have a variety of tones favours it.

I mean, NOTHING can emulate the real thing. Those who are looking into this as a replacement to well known amps are just disillusioning themselves.

But those who are looking for many amp sounds with a tube warmth in one mighty unit, irregardless of what it's SUPPOSE to sound like (like me) would be drooling at this (like me).
