Copyright
Hi imran,
If they are original songs, and if they are written by you, you might want to look into copyrighting them.
By copyrighting your song, you are legally assured of ownership of the song.
And if anyone requests to use the song, they pay you a royalty fee.
Every time a song is used (played on radio, in a commercial, as a ringtone, even requested to be re-recorded in another language ), you will be paid royalties. If someone uses, or performed your song with our a license, they can be sued, because you copyrighted your song.

But please. Find out what you need as a kit to send in to them first.
They won't accept a "I sing in the bathroom, play guitar, tape in cassette tape and mail it in an envelope" kind of productions.
It normally involves the demo to be in a cd, lead sheets, lyric sheets, charts, and details of writer.
Of cos there are fees.
Just sharing some info with ya.
