lets tok abt fender strat sss or others

Wah....
seriously... dun sell it... you might just regret... and buy another one later on in your guitar playing journey.

i use my strat for ....er... almost all genres... i use all 5 pickup positions...
i tihnk thats the key to loving the "strat tone" ... when you solo... or play chords etc... its good to mix your playing dynamics with diff pickup positions... you get a very versatile palette of tones... useable for almost all kinda songs.

If you want a MESA BOOGIE TRIPLE RECT metalica chug tone... well .. not on a strat. For almost anythiing else you can think of... a strat can pull it off. Well.

Now to talk about stuff only a strat can do. THE CLEANS. yes... the single coil clean is kinda like a religion already... no other guitar can do the fender clean better then the fender stratocaster. When used with a nice overdrive pedal.. the pickups sing... and twang. i love this. esp for solos... im flicking thru all pickup positions for diff sounds... its gives for much better expression thru playing dynamics. ( though for most standard shred licks ... ala YJM .. its mainly neck pickup...)

i tihnk you can consider playing clean for awhile.. and explore the stratocaster's beauty. Then add a OD pedal to really feel the single coil punch. Then if it still sucks... either upgrades the single coils... or well.. sell it.

sorry double post.

STRATS ROCK.

another thing is.. if you really want awesome single coils. Get kinmans. these cost an arm and a leg... but its really the best noiseless single coils ive ever played.

Well. since u have decided to sell it. Maybe u can consider a fat strat? Im really keen on one too cause i had the same concern as you. Whether it the bridge single coil can handle high gain sounds. And i was afraid i wont get use to it since im using a typical Lp copy. so yeah. Ya can ask arnd the forum. Im pretty sure there are some fat strat users arnd...:)

I would not use a SSS strat or Ibanez simply because the bridge S is just too.. .thin and jangly.

However, I am a believer in HSS configs... nothing beats a single coil tone in the neck for 1 thing. And nothing beats a humbucker in the bridge churning out chugging riffs.

Thought of modding your strat? Might change your mind. But yeah, on the other hand, there are other strats out there, not fender, like Tyler, John Suhr and the like... those blow the Fenders away in terms of QC and overall quality, and leave a hole in your pocket bigger than 2 fenders would. :) Thing is, you can find another SSS guitar out there and it might not be a fender but it could darn well play better and sound better.

I agree totally about Fender QC practices being more...questionable...considering they're a huge corporation. I have to state that the number one tech job we've had back at the guitar store where I work in Sydney is to properly GROUND strats. They hum like a didgeridoo!

But I digress, sorry. The jangle of a SSS guitar is classic, many classic riffs have been recorded with that. Most famous bridge S proponent I can think of is Jimi Hendrix. However, I'd go for the 2 and 4 positions on a strat, they're quieter and have a nice twang that no other guitar has. Instant U2 sounds, whom incidentally have proven that a cleaner strat can sound good for rock...

i dun like..i prefer using RG instead. Help me find interested buyers.

i appreciate having both RG & Strat in my arsenal, they can't entirely replace each other & they each excel in their own turfs- the reason i keep them. i used to hate Strat... intense hate, mind you.

however, i understand that many of us here just have a certain preference which might affect our playing/ ideas generation.
