Les Pauls - which would you get?

Hi all

I've been a great fan of the feel and tone of les pauls and have owned quite a few epiphones and orvilles (can tell i cant afford a gibby sad case)

I'm thinking of trying other les pauls out, probably an Edwards, POTs or maybe an ESP.

I play lots of pop rock and post-grunge stuff. Occasionally classic rock

My budget is probably around 1.4k - 1.6k

any suggestions?

For that price range, the ones that pop up in my mind is
Edwards LP, Epi elitist(maybe), Epi Black Beauty(950 at SL), Orville( 2nd hand )..

These r the few tat i can rmb at this wee hour.

Davis sells a LP with 3 single coils, u may wanna check it out. Its Edwards or ESP i think, but cant confirm the brand right now.

You've owned the MIJ/MIK Les pauls? I don't see too much difference between the MIJ LPs since they attempt to replicate the Gibson models, so if you like that, anything from Edwards, to Tokai etc should be fine for you already.

Of course if you want a real change, try the ones from PRS and maybe ESP.

But if you still want the classic LP tone and feel and the former doesnt cut it, then I guess saving for the actual thing might be the only way. I can say that once you've found a good Gibson, you don't really look back.

i see the rage now is Greco Les pauls......haha......but i think would be hard to find.......
i would think u could look at a tokai.......

actually u can afford gibson LPs with 1.6k. not brand new though and most likely not in singapore.

if it's not a Gibson, then it's not a Les Paul- not trying to assert some purists rights here but that's reality...

i'm not a big fan of the Les Paul or its copies but i respect them for their good tones, the reason i own them. i'm with Edwards in the mean time for a sensibly good offering in terms of QC & tone (Duncans).

the SE Singlecut isn't quite an LP affair but it's giving the latter a good run for the money.

Theres a Gibson LP Studio going at 1.6k at ebenex, brand new, go grab it!

totally agree with tubescreamer man. actually a studio can sound as good as a standard. just that it dont look as good as std or custom. but hey, it's GIBSON man.

theres always the online stores, like ishibashi that may have a gem or 2 hidden from time to time. might fit your budget. look around.
