hey umm..how to tell the difference between an epiphone stardard and a epiphone elitist stardard?

my friend bought a lespaul from swee lee but didn't know anything about it..thought it was just a normal les paul..

there's a sticker that says the spects of his guitar..but he removed it and now he claims that its a P90 pickups..( we are still not sure about this yet)

so anyone knows about elitist? help my friend out man...

the guitar also had this different thing from other lespaul.that is...above the tuning peg writes epiphone as usual..but under the peg suppose to write a line of vertical words saying epiphone or lespaul..but my friend's one is a line of vertical words saying gibson...

so other than sounds wise...is there any other way to tell whether what my friend's guitar is?he bought it at less than 1k...

assuming the guitar is original, and since you have no idea how to compare headstocks...and obviously dunno how to google...
the easiest way would be to see how many screws the truss rod cover has.

elitist headstock is more or less like a gibsons one,and if im not wrong only a goldtop lespaul which is the 56' reissue has P90s(correct me if im wrong).many places dun sell elitist models and i tink sweelee shld b one of them

there are 2 versions of Elitist.

the us market has a round headstock that looks like this:

the other version is for japanese market. i think this one no need pictures, it has the exact same open book headstock as a Gibson.

google doesn't have the answer...the first thing i did was google of course...

epiphone webby has ET writings that even alien can't understand..(too cursive)

all lespaul looks the same man..the head stock which i just found out...epiphone has a ass-crack shape and elitist has a round butt cheek..
so i guess u are right..

by any chance have u all seen a blue lespaul before? my friend is using the blue one which we both never come across online..haha..looks pirated..

the easiest way to determine is always by the number of screws on the truss rod cover.
if 3, then its korean.
cos that headstock shape on that honey burst or whatever pictured there, is very similar to the early korean epis from the 80s.
but of cos if you look closely, there are slight differences like the MIJ has a rounder top.
so there are some sellers out there, who either know but hide the fact that they do, or unknowingly sell these early korean epis as MIJs.
back then the epi serial numbers were on stickers, so most have just come off due to being so old.
below is a very early korean epi.

this is the photo.. the blue one is my friend's lespaul and the yellow one is my bullseye.. the blue lespaul has 3 screws at the truss rod cover, with a ass crack shape headstock...
so guess its not a elitist..thanks anyway..

the problem is that i haven't seen a blue lespaul on internet nor at store...haha..so we thought its a pirated..bought it from sweelee though..

sorry for blur image.

this one? its a standard production model.
probably a MIC since its newer, guess need the serial number to tell.

how u people tell the pickups by its look?all the epiphone pickups look the same to me..silver colour.. what else man..haha..then how about gibson usa pickups? my friend just confirm with me its a gibson usa thing..shit..i dunno what i'm talking about already...

yes..that blue lespaul is made in china..

You can't tell a Gibby from an Epi or even Seymour Duncans or others if they're covered, well I know I can't. Only way to tell is flipping it over and looking at the bottom.

What gibson USA thing are you talking about? The stickers that was on the humbuckers? IMO those stickers don't mean anything. More marketing than anything else.
