haha Spikes ull be surprised at the improvisation of power chords in some punk bands. Improvisation in guitaring need not be jus plain solo-ing alone, it encompasses chord structures too.

Take Linkin Park for instant, they broke out of the usual root chords progression (e.g. C G Am F) & chg it to something more dynamic to make it sound explosive.

That, for a starter, is improvisation.

LOL Linkin Park is a Punk band?

punk is just all chords... you dont hear or see any solos in it...

oh yes, sorry i missed that out... punk solos are just moving chords around...

Depends on what kind of punk music you are talking about. If you are talking abt modern day "punk rawk" like blink 182, Green Day etc, then the "moving chords around solo" may be true. If you are talking about sreet punk music, then i gotta disagree

Hmm

no condemnation bro :) I din even noe it too, not that I'm much of a Punk guy but yeah there's alway something to learn everyday!! rite?

I feel that Satch has more knowledge of solo-ing & scaling compared to PG. His way of providing the melodies for the songs are realli marvellous. I see he shred, not jus for the sake of shredding, but rather to gif it a feel.

Some guitarists I hear they jus shred for the sake of showing off & telling people "Hey look my fingers can move v fast, but the melody & tune turns out to be v bland, no long lasting impression."

PG has "less" feel??

Satch is an instrumental guitarist thats why he has a much more melodious approach. But take a listen to PG's instrumentals.. they are melodic and with feel... with a touch of humor.

something very melodic from PG : Scarified
listen to that and tell me what you think.

and has anyone forgotten his pop songs? Lots of melody man
