LANEY VC15 or LC15R? (15 watts tube amp)

i think only swee lee sells laney , but thier prices pretty high on laney amps ... but sweet amp thou , would love to own one .

how abt the champion by fender? also 5 watts.

but its by swee lee.

looking for a tube amp that can use for house practice is difficult

The Champion 600 has a 6" speaker only... kinda tiny...

For Fender , i might be looking at this instead that has a 12" speaker. But it has one channel only... and the high gain sound kinda thin on the website demo.
Blues Junior

was hoping to have 2 channels and kinda worried 15 watts tube amp might be too loud for home use, i had a 40 watts marshall tube amp in the past and the volume knob never goes past 3 ... kinda wasted.

THe Laney VC15 was the only one with all the features i like, with a 10" speaker. 2 channels, fx loop, footswitching ability, proper tone controls, and cheapest among my choices perhaps. But its has one major drawback, its sound is not very defined and clear... overdrive kinda fuzzy and not rich and the cleans are not very punchy.

and also its brother the LC15R, which i prefer its punchier and clearer and richer sound over the VC15...probably due to its class A , one channel circuit (duh!).

I really not sure how much difference in usage limitations between a 1 and 2 channels amp has for a home-use amp. Caught in a difficult situation bwtween these 2 now... haha.

And yeah, i'm givng the crate V5 a pass as it doesn't have a conventional low, mid and hi controls. The Laney lionheart 5 watts amp might also be out of my budget too... i think it cost more than $2k. For this money, can get a mesa boogie express 5:25.

I know got a home based dealer in singapore selling Gries amp , the Gries Five , he selling for $1900, kinda out of my budget anyway...my budget around $1k.

sidetrack abit...so far the best amp sound i've heard through my own guitar is a Peavy EVH 5150 stack in a recording studio... shiok!

I have the LC15R. If you're looking for Fenderish tones, go for the LC. For British Vox tones, go for the VC. The VC has 2 channels, so you might find it better in that way. Also, the LC is more versatile, and can get higher gain than the VC. It's all about personal preference.

As much as I love Fender, i find Fender amps very pricey here.

:?: :?: :?:

Uh... not really.

Fender sounds are characterised by signature 6L6 or 6V6 tubes found in the blackface, bassman and vibroverb models. Thin, glassy, solid. The LC15R is an EL84, which gives more of a Marshall like tone.

If anything, the solid state would be more Fender-ish if you ask me.

But the really "Fender"-like thing about the LC15R is the accutronics reverb tank in the amp. THAT is good.

If you're seriously looking for a low wattage marshall. I suggest you contact Nik of ceriatone for a 18W marshall. He has several 18W models.

18W too loud for me... looking at 5 watts now... the only amp that is good sounding is the laney L5T...

15 watts tube amp is how loud? im also like you looking out for low wattage tube amps...

so now its the two laneys, fender blues junior...

how abt vox ac15?

dont forget fender pro junior..
price wise its wayyyy cheaper than the others mentioned..
but it doesnt have much features..
vox ac15?
i personally didnt like it.. sounded quite 'dead' to me..
i dont know.. maybe the tube didnt warm up..
or maybe because i felt the pro junior was clearly better (in terms of clean)..

how bout peavey valveking 112?

laney vc15 and peavey valveking 112 are in my consider list. still haven't made a decision yet.
