Laney Amp

hey guys.. today i went to swee lee with my friend to try out some amps.
i saw this laney LV300T if im not wrong..
there was a label indicating that it is "TUBE ENABLED"..
im just wondering.. what does that mean? the website doesnt indicate anything..
does it mean that you can install tubes on this thing?

for this particular model, it means that it is a hybrid amplifier as opposed to a full tube amplifier

it comes with one tube in the preamp and has a solid state poweramp section as opposed to a "full-tube" amp which features tubes in both the pre and poweramp

as to whether the tube matters or makes a difference in sound is subject to debate, but so long as you like what you hear, you shouldnt be too concerned with whether it has tubes or not

hmm..
i asked the sale person though..
no tubes inside..
the thought that crossed my mind was getting this amp, and install it with tubes in the future?

is he kidding you? at least on the website the tech specs say that it comes with a single ecc83 tube. if there isnt any inside, the amp will not work at all

and if indeed there is a mistake in the tech specs and it doses not have a single preamp tube as stated, then you will not be able to install any tubes

Practically speaking, you can't "install" poweramp tubes into that amplifier. The amp features only a preamp tube in the preamp section (so it's not exactly no tubes, unless that model happens to be different from what I googled online).

all i found when i googled it is it has a Tube Fusion Technology ECC83 Preamp Valve..
so is that the tube in the pre amp?
so technically tube enabled means there is a tube in the preamp?

For full tube, you might want to wait for the new Laney LH (lionheart) series. They got good reviews from Guitarist magazine it seems.

im looking more for cost-saving amps
tubes are beyond my budget as of now..
anyways.. thanks for all your help guys.. cleared things up as of now..
haha..

Sorry guyz, since we are at this Laney topic, may I just take the opportunity to comsult mr Sub something?

Hey Sub, what do you think about the LC-15R? if its not a worthy investment, mind to recommend something comparable, price as well as features (with effects in/out of cos!) Thanks in advance!

GUITARIST is like most brit music mags, always looking for the next great brit hope

eh... the LC15R's reviewed by sub already in the gear reviews section la dey, go check it out. another comprehensive review of the LC15's there too.

as for me i'm quite happy with my old cranky UK LC15R with Invader speakers. nothing great, but not too shabby either. go read the reviews for more details about the latest models with celestions.

Oops.. Sorry fellas. Thanks for the referral! Just checked that out. In my GAS list for year end SL sale!

-> Ripper: Hey Sub, what do you think about the LC-15R?

that's right- review available 8)

anyway, if you're looking for an above-average small tube combo (regardless of the wattage), the LC15R is a wonderful amp, even its default drive is superb at cranked up volumes (i'm not an EL84 power tube fan but in this amp, it's magnificent). however, i'm not too agreeable with the price- it's too much for an amp of this make/ size. if you can acquire one at a good price, then it's highly recommended.

still in the LANEY domain, if you don't fancy default distortion girth but prefer something vintage voiced & don't mind pushing the drive performances with a drive booster, the VC15 is recommended:

oh okay, my firend go the LV300 (not twin) durin the sweelee sale and boy, i think his whole nehbourhood can hear him when he puts the volume at 9 o clock...

we walked out of the room partially deaf when we 1st tried it... haha

overall, not too bad for the price.. really deep and 12-inchy kinda boom but not as heavy as a 4×12

haha.. nahh.. cant blast it in the neighbourhood..
but i can use it for performances..
i hate having to mic up a small miserable amp.. lol..
