KICK ASS SINGLE COILS.

hi guys...im sure there are many strat players around..

my maple necked jap strat is kinda sounding ... gay.
no balls... the yjm in the neck really cannot cut it already... as my musical tastes are moving away from that... im looking for sumthing higher output...and when clean still delivers the single coil chime.

any recommendations?

im actually considering a dave gilmore EMG set for the strat. But since i already got an emg equipped guitar.. was looking for other options..

i like the SD Custom Staggered a lot. Tried on a mex fender, neck position. medium output, retains a lot of the strat sound.

i don't remember it being extremely chimey though.

if i'm not mistaken your strat is ST43 right? it's basswood body... so might sound different. i tried on a maple fretboard fender with alder body.

lace sensors power sia...last tiem i almost got a lace sensor strat...in the end stupid go buy sg

heh... lace sensors got good cleans. but i think with distortion it's really not everyone's cup of tea. i tried the LS golds b4... one set... the cleans were quite surreal but with distortion somehow they just sounded sterile to me...

get the fender texas special, the whole set. its not noise cancelling tho, its pure single coil. they r standard w the srv strat. some ppl dun like them, some swears by them. but i know swee lee dun haf them. maybe davis does, i saw them selling fender parts.

Van Zandt!

dimarzio chopper rocks big time... on the bridge only...
i've tried fast track 2 also, it didn't work out for me... too much bass!!!

Holy crap.. the SSL-5 neck clean clip was damn nice....

the intro slap lick was hell cool.
but the tone wasnt anything special... id get that with my dimarzios no problem.

currently reading up on kinmans... remember them turning my friends squire into an awesome sounding strat.

anyone has the Woodstock regulars/plus and the Avn blues?
despite reading the reviews and listening to the sound clips. im really looking for a in-between man ...

cleans like SRV , john mayer
dirty like malmsteen , clapton , hendrix

How do you feel about this guitar played unplugged? If you like the vibe you are getting a pickup change is likely to make things better. I suggest sit down and honestly ask yourself if you like this instrument. Pickup changes usually cannot change the natural characteristics of the instrument.
This notwithstanding, I would actually suggest you try the lace hotgolds. Try the set with the hotter bridge pickup. Kinman's are nice pickups but they would cost around 500 a set inclusive of shipping and honestly they sound like a good strat pickup should, i.e. u can buy good strat pickups for around 300 a set. I have installed practicallly every kind of noiseless single coil and many times, alot of things is just pure hype

Not to mention, hendrix, clapton all got their tone without some fancy 'booteek' NASA technology pickups.

i like the guitar... alot... just the pickups... really dunt sound as good as single coils should...
with high gain..naturally they sound..well high gain... but im looking for a more single coil twangy kinda tone now... kinda like a kotzen meets SRV...

will most probably go with kinmans.. thanks for the suggestions guys.
