Keyboards Not A Priority in Bands?

speaking of which,, anyone has one to leggo?
p.s In all seriousness.. i find some of the posts thus far hilarious. Keys are impt, but not anymore impt then other instruments.. they each have a function in a band.
But i do think however that there are some who'd think of keys as the instrument to call out for when everyting fails.. as in the utility saviour..when they cant cover certain sounds its keys job.
I like my keys role in the few bands i've played in.. and to all keys personnel... keep on doing what u do.. whetherw e read scores or play by ear.,. keep on playing.. one can only get better/.. i hope i can get better too!

i think the problem here is the rarity of keyboardist who can improvise...
cuz if they do not, it means the band has to jam songs or covers with keyboardists in them... which is also not as common as the usualy guitar, bass, drums setup...
i agree that keyboards can do many things the guitar can't do just as the guitar can do what they keyboard can't... but in most of the music i listen to, only few contain stuff unique to the keyboard...
take electrico's hip city for example... thats what i call major ownage there with the keyboards... the keybd parts is so integrated i gotta admit its almost impossible to do a good cover of their new songs without a keybordist now... thats a part of music not really explored here... maybe its the difficulty in learning keyboard to that level?

most standard rock bands dont really need a keyboard imo, the bassist cover the bass and the guitarist do the melodies and the drums keep the rhythm. But it can be handy in some ballad songs though, but not a staple in rock

A keyboardist is the most important role in any band!
Be it metal,rock,jazz,blues or watever!
Because whenever a band play a song there will be empty holes!
Juz imagine a paper with holes..it looks ugly right!!
That would be how ugly the song is when the band play!!
When you play a song,people would'nt concentrate much on the song but people wanna see how you play it LIVE..wats your creativity!!
So keyboardist is the help..keyboards can help bass,drums,guitars and even Vocal..
The Keyboardist is the Music Director in the band..
Their both hands control Low Mid High..so it doesnt sounds flat!
Juz imagine a Tree..
The Trunk is the backbone which is drum and bass ryte..
The branches leaves are the guitar part and Vocal..
But how abt keyboards??
The Keyboards are the Roots..
Without the roots the tree cant stand tall!
And even the branches leaves and trunk came from the Roots..
So..in a band without a keyboardist..your music doesnt sounds alive!
Try it out...and get a keyboardist...

Do you know that there's a tonne of artistes who use keyboards for live performance from Pop to Jazz to House to Trance?
Do you know that newer and better keyboards are available on the market every now and then?
Do you know more than half the sounds you hear on Pop and Dance CDs are generated by keyboards?
Do you know almost 70% of commercial jingles is somewhat produced by keyboards or at least with reference to the keyboard?
Do you know that there are thousand and one websites and information that's going to embarass you utterly for the lack of reality in you?
