Hi Guys,

I need some advise on combining these instruments sound together on different channels but still able to output thru a single speaker / headphone. I play music for leisure so I not sure on how to put them together. Do I need a mixer / interface? Do I connect my amp out to the mixer line? Seriously do not know this stuff. And really looking at budget configuration.

Any advise is appreciated.

Do list out all the equipment/instrument you have currently. Easier for us to see how it will all fit nicely.

You will need a mixer. If you are thinking of doing some recording too, you might wanna check out those USB mixer. They allow you to record digitally to the computer via a USB cable. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MultiMix8USB/

The little problem I foresee is how you going to get the guitar signal into the mixer. Usually we use a microphone to do that but if your intention is to have all these playing through headphone (minimal disruption to neighbour) then you might wanna check out an amp simulator. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FloorPOD/

Hey Soft,

Thanks dude. Clear some of my doubts. I using budget equipment like ibanez artcore semi acoustic, roland micro cube and yamaha np-30. I not sure how am I going to output my np-30 because it only has midi and line out. The rest of my instruments are acoustic / classical mainly yamaha and I know those I have to put thru a mic. But I won't use them because they could be quite loud at night. I usually work till late and I will play some music to chill afterhours. Thats where I begin to wonder how I combine them so I could listen all thru my headphones.

Can I get those equipment you recommend in sg?

Any other advise that you can share with this novice? haha. Thanks soft, appreciated.

For the NP-30, just connect the Line Out to the Input of the mixer.

Actually, you are very close to putting together a system to create music using computer.

With the above Presonus Firepod (FP10), you basically have a 8 channel mixer. Good thing is, if you want to do some record, you are all set.

In the diagram above, the keyboard is connected using SPDIF, don't worry, you just connect your keyboard's Line Out to the Presonus' analog input.
