Anyone out there knows where to get PORTABLE, BATTERY-POWERED KEYBOARD AMPLIFIERS locally?
If so, please leave a message here and let me know the model name as well!!

Urgent!

Thanks:D

Roland has battery powered keyboard amps. Check with Swee Lee to see if they bring them in.

Hey there!

Yes we do have battery powered keyboard amps - the KC-110!

:) price is now pegged to the US - drop me an e-mail if you would like to know more or want to come in and try one out!

I also did some research recently on battery-powered amps. Battery-powered full-range PA systems will do the job too. Products my research found were Alesis TransActive Mobile, Roland BA-330, Samson Expedition series, Korg MMA-130.

There is just one drawback of these battery-powered amps: the LF drivers are simply insufficiently-powered to give a nice tone. so expect the sound to be really shallow and thin. I went to give the KC-110 an audition at the showroom and used the BA-330 in a rehearsal studio before, so I know first hand.

On the other hand, if you already own a decent keyboard amp, consider buying a portable rechargeable power pack like this:
http://www.duracellpower.com/backup-power/power-packs/powerpack-600.aspx

You will probably be able to run both your keyboard and amp off the powerpack for a several hours per charge. how long? it's hard to tell really, but mobile DJs have reported using it for anything from 4-6 hours on a charge.

If you don't own a keyboard amp yet, and want to go the powerpack method, then purchase an amp that uses a more efficient Class-D power section.

Great insight from Ian - there definitely is a difference in tone when using a battery but how much it affects your sound also depends on your equipment and playing style so you never know till you try!

In ideal circumstances we would indeed recommend using a power pack. :)

Hopefully the technology improves soon though - it's nearly there! :)

I find that a good PA speaker is generally far better than any keyboard amp out there. And also much more versatile!
