right now, the only 'power springs' i can find for sale is by a ebay seller...tho not sure what brand his is.

interesting. I understand old, worn springs can affect return to pitch.

A TGP member posted abt hearing a difference in sound when he swapped the springs to ones of different length and there seemed to be a general consensus that its true.

I dunno.

Maybe one day I'll try... for now, I'm using callanham springs. I dunno abt their tone but they don't seem to tarnish at all!

With this and the thread about bigger brass block, with added weight from the block will the stability of the FR be affected?

No. The stability is the same.

The trem feels more stiff but otherwise, tone is better and no loss in stability.


Wasp, try to understand how the Floyd Rose system works. I think it will benefit you...

Actually. Strictly speaking. If you play your guitar strapped on, lying on the ground. Then perhaps the bigger block will affect. Heh.

but then ppl like kerry king uses the kahler cos they're more comfortable with it.
they've also learnt to work around the kahler limitations to best suit their needs anyway.

I'd think - regardless of who uses what, one should make up their mind as to what fits their purposes better.

I find it very... weird... to have some guy say "oh because some famous dude uses it, you shouldn't complain!"

I'm not surprised to find that famous people can end up having wrongly conceived notions about gear - after all, we're all human and all equally flawed.

I don't think you are trying to say that but I thought to mention it just in case.

Trem bridges are always difficult to handle cos of their issues with stability blah blah blah... when you understand that so many things come to contribute to the stability (or lack of it) of a floating system, you'll either find it a hassle, or deal with it.

Its really a love / hate relationship. However for heavy whammers (or like me, just for the heck of it), its more love than hate. Personally my edge 3 still holding up pretty well, just try to baby it once in awhile lorz...

basically wat im saying is, use whats comfortable to u.

kerry king was asked why he didnt opt for a OFR which he knew was better than kahler.
his reason, cos he grew up using kahler's so knows the ins and outs of them and he feels more comfortable palm muting on them...

i myself have a guitar with a kahler 2700...which is a floyd copy...no roller saddles...floyd nut...
...and another guitar with a schaller floyd...
i dont mind either one...tho i if i could i would swap the kahler for another schaller, cos a OFR wont fit, simply cos its easier to setup a schaller/OFR.
