jmsmusic photography.. and others!

Haha. Nope. They are all considered Alternate photography cameras. They are classified as Toy cameras in a certain way and are made of fully plastic.

There are a lot more alternate photography cameras out there to name. But as you can see, all the cameras are plastic. That is also the main reason why the photos turn out in a certain way.

so its all the in thing now for hobby & fun photograpy?
ok if i were to get, what are the price range? any recommendations?
interesting.. they work in the same ways right? nice for black & white prints too

Lol, I think the in thing for photography is having a DSLR since DSLRs are kinda cheap nowadays...

nah. DSLR is the latest fashion accessory imho (altho i want one. lol)
But lomography is slowly picking up.
Depends on what you would like. cause they give you diff effects, and they are HIGHLY unpredictable (which makes them more fun).

Black bird is about $190 (the karmen rider decade pink is my fav but i got the black instead)

Holga is slightly cheaper but should be around the 100 range if you buy the 35mm adaptor

Diana is about 80 without the 35mm adaptor.

Try it, it's fun. We should form a soft photography club!!

thanks faekildare, yes leave the result to chances is fun
maybe i should start going to flea markets & look for a diana?
my only cam now is a small benq, some of u may not even consider it as a cam.. hehe

I doubt u can find one at the flea market. You should head to sunshine square, this shop call 36 stories. They sell the lomocams there.

the damn d90 came out shortly after i got my d80, heart pain......

Don't heart pain. Buy a used film SLR. You won't regret it when you compare the differences in image quality and dynamic range. The digital camera is like guitar effects. Analog > digital

I spent 200bucks on the F65 and it came with 2 lenses. A cheapskate 70-300 telephoto too which is what I use for all my wildlife shots.

hahaha will check it out soon, sad thing is that i know nuts, but then again, its exciting embarking on a new hobby.

whoohoo will check the penin area out! any specific models i should lookout for?

If you want to learn.. I highly suggest the Nikon FM2. Go to clubsnap forums and look for a secondhand. The full manual mode will force you to learn the theories of photography and mistakes are much more obvious since there is no such thing as auto ISO. Have fun, you will enjoy this after a while, trust me.

I want the Sony @550. I am currently using a Minolta Dynax 5 and i have only 2 lens (1 of em being the 75 to 300). That is also the main reason why i wanted the sony (because i can use the lens and save tons of money in the process). Any good or bad reviews?

PS:The reason why i want a Digital SLR is because it's a lot cheaper for practicing and on the spot review of the photos from the LCD. I still believe in film for good photos tho.

Cool! Finally a Sony/KM user in this thread. The A550 is quite a high end model in their (can I say entry level?) cameras. And they said the noise control is much better as A550 uses the same sensor as D90. But one thing about A550 is the build quality. It is made of plastic... You should wait for Sony to announce their new cameras like the A700 Successor. Or if you don't need the Live View, you can just get an A700. The build quality is many times better than A550.

So, wait for them to officially announce the A700 successor. Then decide whether to get the A550 or not.

IMO.

LOL.

Hmmm. I see. So it's better to wait for the successor of A700 eh? Cause i was just thinking of using my Minolta lens back. But if plastic camera body means.. easy to spoil?

Not better lah.. Just that the A700 successor seems to be something worth waiting for... and you might regret not getting the A700 successor after getting the A550. Yeah, if you want to use your Minolta lens back, then you should stick to an Alpha system.

Plastic camera body means the 'feel' of the camera will not be as good as a magnesium alloy camera. You will be able to notice the difference. Try holding A550 and compare it with A850/A900.
