well before the mod i found that when on 'blunt' the tone still sounded real thin and dry, and cos of this i had to adjust the eq and tone knobs to dial in more mids or bass to make the sound more full, this limited the range of the eq and tone knobs for me cos anything beyond this range was a sound which i did not like. worse still on the 'sharp' setting which i never used at all before the mod.
after having it sent to randolf, the sound's a lot warmer to my liking now. when set to 'sharp' i'm able to to dial in more tones for metal, high speed solos etc, adjusting the eq n tone knobs a little i can get more warmth, slightly fuller tone for those catchy riffs or appregios, for lead playing.
in the 'blunt' setting the 'chug' you get out of palm muting it sounds so much nicer. now we've got LOTS of warmth. btw, harmonics are a lot nicer now.
however, i also realised that the affect this had on the jekyll channel wasn't as much to my liking as it had on the hyde channel. the overdrive now doesn't have as much articulation as it did when it was stock. but i can live with this since i use it more as a boost and only once in awhile for blues. i use the hyde channel a lot more.
yea this is just how i feel about the pedal, the mod made the hyde channel a lot more versatile. ofcourse, it all boils down to personal preference, which is what i feel is most important. if you love the pedal stock, keep it stock!!! haha!
oh ya take note all this is while using a mahogany body, maple neck rg with seymour duncan duncan distortion and duncan customs. also, i use the bridge pickup a lot more than the neck.
