jc or poly?

does jc or poly provide a better curriculum and/or environment for education?

About JC students being spoon-fed, certainly not happening in my case. Either you study/attend lectures/print your own notes.. or you die. This may not be the case in other JCs but i definitely know at least two more with the same environment.

About stress levels and everything else, yeah definitely agree with the general opinion.

P.S. thread digger here lol

my god. thread digger indeed. but that's not all.

do you realise that you have needlessly revived a completely pointless argument?

right from the thread title onwards we already know that the thread will be full of young ignorant children giving their highly valued opinions and attacking anyone who disagrees.

just watch anybody that posts after my post. ANYBODY. you'll see what i mean.

lets say you go

jc 2 years + uni 4 years = 6 years

compared to

poly 3 years + uni 4 years - uni exemption 1 year = 6 years

if you do a course related to your diploma

if both 6 years, whats the diff? if u go the jc route, u must do 1 extra year in uni. doing 1 extra year in uni is much shittier than doing 1 extra year in pre-u. more difficult, more expensive, more everything.

furthermore, uni does not start immediately after jc or poly. in between got ns. before and after ns got gaps. if u want to work during the gap, do u think a diploma holder or A levels holder earn more money?

Here's the difference, from a poly dude. Some courses for diploma make it extremely hard to get into university unless you do amazingly well. I know muggers, like crazy real life muggers, who ended up in SIM because they took my course - Business, where you need a GPA of like 3.6 to enter a local uni. As opposed to a friend I know who needed only like 3.2 to enter a local uni with his course's diploma(not a business diploma). In poly, you need to study hard for 6 semesters to ensure you enter a local uni. There are a few other factors that might screw up your chances like bad project groupmates. In JC it's more like as long as you do well for A levels, no matter how bad your other areas like project or Year 1 results might be, it doesn't matter in the end. I would say that if you really want to enter university, go to a JC and mug like a b!tch.

I also would suggest JC for guys, because you tend to ORD earlist in November and latest in March, as opposed to Poly where earliest is May and latest being September(me). This will be a pain in the butt if you want a break after NS and ORD in sept like myself, as I had to juggle 1 month of NS with school. If I had went to a local uni I would have had to disrupt, thus having to pay back 1 + month of NS during the holidays. All in all I would say that although I don't regret my poly decision, JC would have probably made my life turn out better, but there's no point in regretting that.
