this topic has been discussed to death. can't generalise, up to the individual and what he wants to study, etc.

that said, poly ftw.

overseas better...
singapore education mould u into a worker,
so u will blindly work....

overseas builds on character and stuff..
so i think its shapes ur personality also...

but let say no $$$
go JC...
coz JC can have confession...
poly cant..

haha confession. consession lah dey. Anyway, choosing your poly/jc based on having consessions or not is plain stupid.Jc for a more direct route to Uni, Poly for a more practical stuff.

it's concession, not consession ;)

haha, totally agree with you. singapore education system is quite biased actually, jc ppl got more chance than poly ppl would ever have to go uni, in poly u need to be like the top 10-15% then can go uni.

its very unfair for jc ppl to have concession while poly ppl cannot. if u want to talk about girls, then go poly. lol, get into business courses, and your class will be filled with girls :mrgreen:

Do you plan to get a degree immediately after either route? If so, go to JC and save yourself a year. If you plan to work to get exposure and experience before deciding which degree to get, then Poly is the natural choice.

poly offers a more practical approach in learning, offering courses that are close to the real working world where all these that u learn will be applied.

jc is a different thing. It is still basically like ur sec sch but much harder.

i always think jc is not a choice for everyone. even if u get through jc, going into a degree course in university where it goes to the very practical approach and takes it a lot out of you, the transition can be tough.

Well I have a JC confession to make.
When I look at the JC girls in their uniform, I get HARD...!

HARD PRESSED to pick a good school that is!

Poly or JC?
You decide.
JC involves a lot of memorization and more regurgitation than even a hardcore bulimic person can take!
Poly is more about practical application of your desired skills, but there are also a greater number of dimwits in some classes.

If you are planning to study overseas, doing well for JCs might help you get into a good UK university - though a Diploma counts almost as much.

Other than that, overseas universities not from the UK don't really place any particular favourtism for one over the other.

If you want to go to NUS, do your As.

lol, ur making it sound as if poly students are inferior to jc students.

I went to poly coz i knew what i wanted to do. I didnt want to take the Jc route since i wnated to jump straight to topics that would help me in understanding my field of work in the future. I also didn go to JC cos i knew it would be stressful, even though the course im taking at sp right nw is stressing me out...
Btw, just to note, poly students have to be consistent in their grades due to the GPA system. I dunno abt other polys, but in sp all overall gpa in each semester is important towards ur final GPA in year 3.

It's up to you to decide which road to take. Decide careful and dont regret your choice.
