Does anyone uses Jackson electric guitars here? I want to play classic rock and abit of metal but I don't know whether its suitable...

Should I get a fender or Epi instead? :)

My budget around 1.2k, hope to go lower than that though

Hi, i have a PS-4 Jackson Performer. I've been using it since 1994 and its equipt with L-500 Bill Lawrance and '59 Duncan PUPs, sounds great as i play lots of metal. I love the medium size neck....good for shredding. Image wise...its a good rock/metal guitar.
Try out different brands and models, get the one that really suits your style. Happy Shopping 8)

I owned a King V,Rhodes-1 and DXMG guitars.Wat can i say.Great for metal players. My RR-1 have warm sounding though. But as neck is concern,it is not as fast as ibanez or esp kh-2.

hey i have the exact same pups in my epi les paul.. the bill lawrance is great stuff right? somehow i cannot get a good metal/rock sound out of the pups though the cleans through the bill lawrance is great.. especially with the coil split.. but the 59 is too muddy for cleans so i run it dirty for some decent distortion but not much note definition just muddy noise distortion

Hi Poon. Ditto, i love the clean on my BL. When on dist, i can't really get the metal sound that i like....it sounds very strat-ish like iron maiden, very "British metal".

Any shops bringing BL's in? 8)

exactly.. took the words out of my mouth.. umm i got mine put in by the guitar tech at guitar connection instead of the SD JB pup... heard that the JB is trebly so im certainly very happy with the BL.. the funny thing is that the bridge pup is clearer than the neck.. maybe i should shift the height of the 59 to lessen the muddiness.. actually the guitar tech said that the 59 and JB couldnt go together because of the impedence.. i had no idea what that actually meant but i took it with a pinch of salt.. after all the 59 with the JB is one of the most popular SD combinations 8)

Hmmm try getting Ibanez guitars. 1.2k is quite ok for a decent guitar. The amp is for home use, or for gigs and small performances? If its for home usage a Marshall AVT-20 will be ok... Try it in Davis. I own a Avt-20 though. Loud enough for small gigs and performance. Its a hybrid amp though, so if im not wrong, its $525.

Still its up to your preference, i use it to play 'british metal' like iron maiden. And also abit of rock and blues too. : )

Ok, decided to go with a fender stratocaster and a peavy 15 watt amp from sweelee.

Not getting it so soon though.

Thanks for the help :D

I strongly advise you never to get Peavey stuff. All the equipment I used from them all sucked big time. Especially the amps.

...not that all peavey stuff sucks, its those low end stuff where most people are using for practise or play in the bedroom only......they do have some amp and guitars where it cost as much as the usual gibson/fender stuff etc.....just my .00002cent......
