Is it possible to create the sound used in muse's supermassive blackhole using only my boss ds1? I tried it with both knobs at 3 o' clock, but the result was some heavily distorted sound. O.o
Any one can give advice?? I am using the beez mod one btw.

For supermassive black hole I used a MT-2 with around 2-3oclock dist.
EQ around 12. Low freq around 1-2.

Alternatively, I used a Russian Big Muff, forgot the details about that one but oh well.
Not too sure about DS-1, try playing around, maybe your amp's EQ has something to do with it?

I think try Tone at 10-11, Dist 1-2, level remain at 12.

I've got a les paul copy, line 6 spider III 15W, boss ds1 beez. Also anyone knows the settings for plug in baby??

(please don't say my gear very lousy, i know!!):D

No la, not lousy gear. Just that the DS-1 maybe not the best pedal to recreate that sound. You need a more versatile distortion i'd say. But hey, that's just my 2 cents. Some people swear by the DS-1.

try setting the gain to the max and turning your tone knob all the way down. it worked on my Od3.

OD 3 and DS 1 are two completely different pedals that have 2 different tones. One setting that sounds good on one doesn't mean it sounds good on a nother.

It's also nearly impossible to replicate the fuzz tone, which is the staple tone for Muse, using these two pedals, at least if used on their own.

don forget the amps matt ballemy uses as well as his extensive rack units.

You may wanna google that up cos imo, its more about the sum of parts that constitutes the whole sound.

My advice? Your'r better off finding something that works for yourself rather than trying to emulate somebody else.
