Snagged from Jemsite...

I love it... but I can't imagine doing a Vai on it... the trem would rip out! Hahaha...

done before ...many times :D

bro patein has a 80's jap copy....

Btw that is an awesome piece of action there buddy !!!!

Why would the trem rip out?

But i think it looks wrong.

Although epiphone did issue a LP that was discontinued with a FR trem on it.

It kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it?

Huge body fer thick tones and then you've got a Floyd on it which takes out quite abit of that body tone.

To each his own!

Hehehe... apparently that guy MODDED his gibson to do it! Its just ... going to make LP owners roll their eyes!

lightice, the LP is probably realllllly heavy so I would expect the floyd to rip out or the trem arm to break or something... and no, I'm not going to figure it that will really happen or not. :P

Jony, a floyd cuts bass, as compared to a fixed bridge... so if you consider an LP to be "mud-dish" or too bass heavy, why not?

i dont get it. why do pple refer to tone like that. like jony u could say: Huge body fer thick tones and then you've got a Floyd on it which takes out quite abit of that body tone. in what way does a floyd take out quite a bit of body tone? yeah it prob changes abit of the sound but the use of the term taking out is quite negative? some pple might like the fact that with the trem there might be a little bit more top end and i guess that isnt considered taking out issit?

i dont get it. why do pple refer to tone like that.

For one thing, I used to think like that too.

Reading up reviews, people usually refer to tone as "full", "fat", "thin", "balanced", etc... and the reviews usually mention things like "thin" & "bass-deficient" tone in bad light, so back then, it got into my head that good tone couldn't be say, thin.

Then later it the years, when I started to get into modding my Ibanez Saber with goofy switches and stuff... at first, it was for fun/experiment's sake, then I realise what a boon it was to have the variety of tones @ my fingertips.

It was then I realised, there IS a place for "thin bass-deficient" tone... i would use coil splits, run my pups out of phase because only that "bad" tone could do the sounds that just fit the music. I mean, its like... trying to play funk with your bass on 10, it doesn't gel with the music - muds up.

But bass on 10 for heavy down-tuned sludge metal murder death kill music could work out.

So... yeap.

But I tell u. Satch's tone on the last G3 album sucks.

Tom morello has an LP with a floyd.

He uses it mainly for killswitching.

He either uses that or the hamer blue body one.

Hmm actually "taking out", while it sounds negative, does makes sense.

Correct me if Im wrong but:

You need to route the cavity and hence removed some mass of bodywood off the body. Also, since the bridge has less contact, naturally this means less of the low-end. Floyd Rose, being such a large metal unit, increases the high end as well.
