Is it me or are maple necks way too glossy?

Is it me or are maple necks that are nitro-ed way too glossy?

the finish has nothing to do with the neck. its the manufacturers option of doing the finish. some necks are very glossy(lacquered), some unfinished, some even satin regardless of maple, mahogany etc.

more strength? dun believe its the fretboard either. check for uneven or worn frets, string height and string gauge.

Some maple necks are glossy, some are satin and some are unfinished..are u referring to the back of ur neck that is lacquered?

maybe what i meant is the fingerboard, it feels totally different from my previous rosewood guitars and no way the frets are find its a new piece

Ok I get what u mean...it could be the size of the frets, different neck radius, size of back contour or a combination of all this factors thats hindering ur playing...in my experience, jumbo frets are easier to bend than on vintage small frets n flatter neck radius allows smooth, fast lead playing compared to curved radius..I prefer a modern C shape neck

hmm im using a soft v i really like it though, the radius is 9.5 just that i think it might be the finish nitro gloss man.. it feels weird whn i bend it up to bend + vibrato the fingerboard kinda "sticks" to my finger tip and it kinda gets stuck.. well unless i exert more force

guys i just got my first maple neck guitar and to be honest everything's great bout it but is it me or are all maple necks so glossy ? the weird thing is that i need to use a noticeable more amount of strength to do bends and vibrato.. i nvr had this problem with a rosewood fretboard

Are you serious. Read what you just typed. It doesn't make any sense. More strength to do bends? ARE YOU SERIOUS. Jeez the type of posts on soft srsly piss me off.

If you cant help then why have this stuck up high and mighty attitude, if you have issues in life take it out on your family,children,wife or spouse for all i care seriously man, if posting out here aint allowed why not you go around snapping the necks of nooblets like us and make the guitar an exclusive to twarts like you

Please state what type of maple neck are you using. Is it a Stratocaster neck?
Also, please state what sort of "rosewood" neck are you using to refer back to. Are you talking about a Les Paul, SG, Jaguar, Firebird, etc?

I certainly do not wish that it be an "Exclusive" instrument, thats way overboard. It prolly is the term "Glossy" that was misused. after reading what @theliverevolution said then, yea, makes sense.

But, Definately NOT anyhing to do with the gloss. So there.

Relax man, don't fret too much over it. Any forum [especially a specialised one like this] are going to attract new people, and they would ask all sorts of questions that more experienced people like us would think its fickle. That's kinda what's the forum is for, to learn about all these sort of things.

Rub it down with 00000 grade steel wool if it's too glossy and sticky for you. Would recommend removing the neck off the body, and take out the tuners before u start, to make sure u get a uniform rub down.

Maple fretboards tend to be more heavily finished than rosewood (not sure why but I think its for protection?) but there are some that aren't. What fretless6 suggested is good, if you're not confident in doing the it then send it to a tech.

I've been busy for the past few days but none the less i would like to say i actually figured out the problem, it was actually me reason being i've actually been saving for a new guitar for a long time now and i've even sold my guitars just to add to the pool of funds and after this long long time of saving i guess my fingers grew weak and the string gauge was taking a toll on me, honestly i didnt expect it would be such a big deal until i got to realize this slowly but in any case i feel so stupid for making such a post now...
