Is bassist is a left behind band player nowadays??

you determine where you stand with your actions and abilities.
regardless of what instrument or role you play.

Ben Kenney of incubus makes me wanna pick up bass!!

Bass is cool and important like the rest!

yeah got to agree with visa......

i pick up bass cos of this canadian avant garde band Unexpect....so damn awesome bassist......9 string wohoooo!

so far i got only a 5 string hahaha ....

yeah bassist is also important in bands make it complete n heavier for the song n grooveness of it hehe

silent pride

I have a silent pride being a bassist for i know that we a special breed.Bassists require special training and strength and also the ability to handle responsibility. We fuse the rhythm and the music and without us the rhythm and the rest are alone.

My theory goes that bassists are less noticed due to the advent of the ipod. With a portable player that boasts rolled off bass, coupled with those o-so-cool white earphones that give no bass too, the average listener will hear the wailing guitars but not the bass supporting it. What to do?

yeah ..>!bass also got their own talent..

what i got from other ppl

bass is not important just a back up sound..

walau that hurts

nah man you shouldn't blame ipods for the bassists' incompetence...burn!
kidding, kidding.

seriously though an ipod is a pretty decent player. It might not have customizeable eq and all that fluff, but music sounds decent on it. i hate to look like an ipod apologist, but really if people aren't interested in the lower frequencies in the first place, even getting a canalphone won't make them anymore of a bass lover. the opposite is true too.

of course i'm basing this theory on account that I have a bunch of caged monkeys that I regularly conduct tests on.

Eza: Just a backup sound? HAHAHA. When I screw up and miss a few bars while jamming it always sounds damn weird. Surely any bassist and their bandmates know how important bass is when these "illustrations" happen.

dir: Now now you really sound like one. But it's too late to apologiseeeeeee. It's too lateeeeeee. Anyway, I think it's not a matter of people being uninterested. Most people don't even know the difference bass makes until they've heard it, so it turns into a chicken and egg question, because when they don't hear it they won't want it so they won't crave for it and they won't hear it and.......

well, I won't call these people serious music lovers/fans in the first place. even so, ipod is just a portable music player. there's plenty of other places they can listen to music from. most pcs come with 2.1 sound systems nowadays, and laptops are getting better and better. really, it's their loss if they miss out on some bass action, but i'm not losing any sleep over it!

True there. There're other systems that around that I've neglected. (I'm an ipod hater, so I kinda got myopic there, sorry about that.)
