Is a mixer really required in a house studio set up?

Hey guys,
I need some sort of confirmation.
Let's say i am doing just acoustic recording and i have interface with enough inputs to record Vocals and The acoustic guitar.

Is a mixer really necessary ?

if you wanna mic up your acoustic and your interface has mic inputs, then a mixer is not necessary..

I don't think so :/
It really depends what you need.
If you're just doing layering, a mixer is probably superfluous.
