i used to like them. then i kinda stopped liking then when i moved on from punk rock. right now, i only liked teenagers coz of blues influences in it. and that's about it from them

Hmm so you didnt get my point. Just curious, how do you classify their genre as "emo" ? Based on what ?
No offence, but come on, they are the one who created their own music after all. If they say emo is not their genre, so be it. Just who are you, jumped the hell out of no where and say this say that, classify others music like no one business.

well if im the only person saying that mcr is emo, then i agree with you that there isnt a reason for anybody to agree with me. but the emo tag has been generally applied on mcr, not only by me, but by many other "emo" and "indie" fans too.
originally emo referred to "emotional hardcore" where hardcore was performed with emotions, unlike the new "emo" fashion where it just means "emotional" minus the "hardcore" part. early emo were bands like orchid, fugazi (i think) and such. new "emo" simply means that songs are written based on breaking up with their gfs, suicidal thoughts, sad, angsty, depressive thoughts etc. mcr fulfills most of the so-called requirements on the genre, i dont see how they arent emo.
besides, mcr definitely qualifies for the "emo" tag in their fashion sense as well.

haha, i just find it funny that they are able to say something so ironic.
i think first off, they never wanted to label themselves as emo. the kids did. the band was just writing songs and making music that they love and there's nothing wrong with that. if kids want to label them emo, it's perfectly alright for Gerard to say the he thinks emo is shit, because he has never seen his own band as emo in any way.

there is a reason why there is such a thing as various genres of music. a band is labelled a certain genre cos they play a certain style of music, dress a certain way, and mcr has fulfilled those requirements hence it is perfectly justified to put them in the emo genre.
