Installing a Whammy Bar on a Non-Gibson Les Paul

Hi guys,
I'm here to ask if you know any one I can go to for whammy bar installations in Singapore. I intend to get a floyd rose or possibly this Stetsbar (http://stetsbar.com/) installed on my Rally GL-400 WH Les Paul. My worries atm are that being a copy, not an official Gibson, will there be any mismatch of hardware? What I mean is, I believe whammy bars/floyd roses come in a set size[more often than not, measuring up to big brands such as Gibson/Fender standards], so will such hardware still fit my Rally? Really, I'm asking this because I think the bridge portion of the Rally is not up to measure with an offical Gibson model. Sorry if I confuse anyone, this is the best I can put out in words! :P

Oh right, btw, any recommendations on specifically what model of whammy bar I should be after? I'm looking to doing stuff like dive bomb, harmonic squeals ala Dimebag/Synyster Gates stuff.

Thanksss!!

Email them, I'm sure they can help. There are measurements on the website, go check it out. The stetsbar is pretty good, I intend to get one in the future also

hey guys, yeah i know there's a stop tail version of the stetsbar but from what i see on the website and on videos, it's custom tailored to fit a standard gibson bridge, hence my worries for my rally copy. i also don't think bigsby will be what i want since it's only meant for light-medium tremolo work mostly.can't really get them to do good old squealies or dive bomb over an octave.

honestly speaking why not get another guitar?

i really want to man, LadyInTears! unfortunately due to budget constraint... and then on the other hand one can argue to spend on a budget guitar with floyd rose, but my thinking is that if im gonna get another guitar(i only have 1 atm, only been playin 2 years :D) it might as well be something worth much more upgrading to. i also have this part of me where i'll feel guitly if i buy another guitar and then dun play my $400 lp anymore :(

the bridge aint cheap and it may not be what youre looking for..

200 usd vs your 400dollar LP.. bo hua leh

hmm, anyone know any shop that brings in the Stetsbar?would love to take a look at a physical piece of the Stetsbar, and would be nicer if can get the shop to do installation all. :)

lol at this point...i think i might possibly just do upgrading to my rally and put off having more guitars(until im actually working at least).i am too used to the feel of it already and its satisifed me thus far.only wanna throw in that whammy ocassionally even if i could live without having one...

Hi, I own a Rally GL-300 myself. Rocking guitar this one! \m/

I personally feel, if you feel that the Rally has already done justice to what sound and tone you like. The trem-upgrade isn't really advisable. If you change the "Tune-o-matic Bridge" and "Stoptail" piece to a trem-system, then you might have to recess the Guitar? Dig a hole out for a Floyd?

I ever read about Stetsbar and how it worked on other guitars. But, after installation, many have encountered tuning instability. not trying to defame the product( Stetsbar please don't sue my T.T).

I personally feel, Modification done to your Guitar should never make your guitar lose it tonality.

And seriously.... GL-400/GL-300 to Modify it... abit bo hua....
To myself, Max if i swap the stock pickup out... I might only be willing to fork out very little and get cheaper alternative like Tesla?

Tremolo system might just complicate your previous Rally!

Just my $0.05 worth, SGD bo $0.01 so cant provide $0.02.... HaHAHAHAH

you are so right!but at the end of the day,i think its just cos i find it very hard to justify to myself buying another guitar which in turns means more strings/finish polishes, etc. to buy and more time spent caring for another baby.i also have this nagging fear of - what if i spend on a new guitar, and it doesn't turn out the way i want it to[fr not working like what i expected/pickups not as good as my rally's]. doesn't help that these are all bought with dad's money... :(

ps: ^ probably more a list of my own insecurities than a reply,LOL!

There's no need to feel so insecure about purchasing another Guitar. Buying another instrument should be seen as an investment.

If you need a tremolo system, then by all means buy an Epiphone Les Paul PlusTop PRO/FX? Or a Uno May-T? Or cheaper Singlecut/Lespaul Guitars with a Tremolo system?

You can always try guitars until you find the sweetest sounding guitar to your ears than buy it. Our Rally's stock pickup isn't really that great to begin with, but are decent sounding MIC cheap pickups....
Personally i do get very technical with the details of guitar and how different wood sounds and what my ear likes the most. Its a slow process to find your favourite Guitar tone.

Along the way, being influenced by different musicians from everywhere on the globe would shape you differently, your taste in Tone will constantly change. Don't mind me saying this, but one day, what you love about your GL-400 might not be enough to satisfy your Tone dream. Just play along and be expose to a greater world of music.

Eh... Polish is one bottle for all Guitars de leh?
Strings are cheap for Guitar lah!!! My Violin strings can cost me a whooping $60 just for small tiny short strings!

Ultimately its how you justify your musical career and how you acquire new equipment.

For now, just play well with your lovely GL-400. I wish you the best in your Musical Adventure.

p.s. Yeap...We all spent our parents $$$ like crazy... They spent it out of Love... It'll be out turn sooner of later.... haha
