impressive yet affordable

go and try it out! hehe they dont have any demos on their site though...

i'm a newbie at efx too! hi5! nvm we all learn!

well ... one of the cheapest and most useful items ive ever came across during my guitar playing... is the BOSS DS-1.

made in taiwan or japan... these pedals are definitely very very good bang for the buck. i think u can get one for about 70 bucks at swee lee... it makes for a great lead tone. Ive used it alone for a few gigs ( save setup time ) and its always performed very well ... just need to work the tone knob... and dist/level to get desired level. and your playing dynamics control everything else.

this is one pedal where the player must play a bigger part. thats a good thing!!

DS-1 gets my vote.

I'd recommend another Cort guitar - the Cort 250g (left handed, sunburst model). I got mine at Sweelee for $270 and imho, this beats most guitars in that price range and is probably comparable to something in the 600-700$ range.

The Cort has a basswood body, a fast maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. My guitar came with a Wilkinson bridge, a roller nut (which I later replaced with a Graphtek - I hear that current versions of the 250g come with a Graphtek), and Mightymite pickups (HSS,slightly muddy but perfectly reasonable for the price I paid). The bridge pickup is versatile and some tweaking of the tone knob gives a nice bluesy sound (and there's the coiltap as well to get a more twangy single coil sound). It's been two years and the only problem I've had was with the tone knob that broke during a gig. It's ideal for a budget guitar and looks neat as well.

I was looking for a guitar which looks like the SG Special or a Les Paul which does not cost too much and has a nice distortion. But Cort looks like a little like a Strat...

Marshall MS-2 Microamp. I bought one on a whim at Davis for $60 thinking 'ah - the sound will suck, but it will look cool on my desk'. How wrong I was - this tiny half-stack has surprisingly full-bodied tone. Whack a DS-1 or a delay in front of it and wail!

A bargain and so fun!

Marshall Jackhammer.Cost less than a 100 now since i 1st bought it and u can get tons of differerent tones from metal to blues.Got switch to get overdrive or distortion.Got alot of eq knobs to get desired sound.Get it if you want a bargain.

i would say try the ibanez ts7. it's an awesome pedal for it's awesome price! it has a real nice crunch and overdrive, not too heavy not too weak. awesome for that tubescreamer tone!

i got the same guitar!!
cept it's in blue though
got mine at swee lee's year end sale last year for $170
budget stuff but i love it :D

^ last time i went swee lee BB, they did not have the m200 on the walls. but got other 'm' series though. i tink swee lee is the only distributor of cort

While I agree Cort makes nice guitars with good woodwork, their metal parts leave a lot to be desired. I used to play a 250 which started rusting like crazy. Even the frets started rusting. The woodscrews all went black. Five of the pickup screws went rusty. The magnet pole pieces started going black, slowly.

I've had my Fender at the same time, and it's stayed clean and nice all the time, while the Cort went from ok to bad. Both were subject to the same weather / humidity here in Singapore.

screws and all can be changed... but rusting frets?

for the pole pieces on the pups... can't blame them cuz they use some other brand's pup... like ur G250... its equiped with Might Mite pups...

i think rusting frets are the biggest worries... chaning them ain' cheap... might cost as much as the guitar... haha

Corts make lovely guitars...my very first guitar was a Cort G254..it was Tangy Orange in colour..came with a Wilkinson Trem and mightymite pups.. S-S-H...loved it..regretted selling it away..it held such sentimental value and it was great!..never judge a guitar by its birthplace but by it's performance i guess
