I need to import a guitar speaker from the US, however, for some reason, vpost lists speakers as a restricted item. Has anyone successfully imported speakers directly from the US, for instance purchased from eBay and shipped directly to Singapore? I'm afraid it may get held up in Customs or whatever else hassle that comes along with it.
I've tried checking with vpost whether speakers are indeed restricted items, however I've yet to receive a definitive response from them. At first they informed me that the restriction is imposed by the US, when in fact I checked USPS and there's no mention of such thing. I've also been in contact with one boutique amp builder (lil dawg amps) and he has informed me that he once tried to ship an amp direct to Singapore and neither vpost nor Singapore post would accept it. He said the only Lil Dawg amp in Singapore had to be hand-carried by a friend of the buyer from the US to Sing (wonder if this guy is a softie...hmmm)...
So anyhow, has anyone successfully shipped guitar speakers from the US to Singapore? Or must I really go through dealers who have the appropriate import license for such things?
