if i paint my guitar will it effect the sound?

lets see..

if its electric guitar, you play the string, strings vibrate, pickup sense the vibration, convert mechnical energy to electrical signal, sent to output jack, from output jack, travel along cable towards the amp and amplify to our hearing.

Will there be any chance that the paint actually be mixed in the audio path and changed the sound?

u should go read the EVH article in the feb 09 issue of guitar world.
he tried i think 7 different finishes on the prototype, and all sounded different.

you ask 10 different guitarist and you'll get 11 different answers.

yes it sucks like that.

IMHO, if the body already painted thick and hard, any additional paint may not make a difference. even more if the player use gobsmack of distortion for teh djugga.

if the body is stained and oiled thinly or if its a thin nitrocellulose or thin modern paint type, and the player is used to playing with cleans or overdrive with touch sensitivity and with many many nuances... plus many many years of relationship with the guitar and/or the instrument to be able to feel and hear the difference... oh maybe hell yeah... it maybe night and day.

What type of guitarist are you?

damn right I suck! I repent! I worship someone who can drink so much and still be alive and rocking!

I'm not worrrtthhyyy..... I'm not worrrtthhyyyyy....

Yes! Do not ever ever ever repaint yer guitars kids! It'll make your instruments DEAD!
