ibanez or esp?

haha. looking at your pedal board made me realise that i need more stuff. time to get my DE7. lessons are taking up most of my money :( i prefer the treble excessive tone of the Skreddy(if i can remember it correctly)

First of all, i own both an ibanez and an Esp. One bit of advice for you here, dont go ibanez cause everyone says so, nor go the esp route because of similar advice.

The pickups on Esps vary, but most come with EMG active pickups, which might get you the tone you want/dont want. It will sound much thicker and more full than the ones on the ibanez.

Next thing to consider is the neck, Esp necks are generally chunkier than the Ibanez Rg series, assuming that is what you are going to get.

I prefer my esp for heavy riffing but my Rg3120 does fine too.

You can get MIJ esp for slightly over 2k if im not mistaken. Go try both if possible, and get the one which tone/ playability you prefer

I dunno if im mistaken, is LTD a guitar series from ESP, or is LTD a sub-brand from ESP like squier-fender, epip-gibson? Where can i find more models on ESP, is like so limited from what I see from ESP offical website. Anyway is ESP a japan company? (Just felt that it might be japan company since the jap web seems to be better)

its like the epiphone/gibson kind of thing la.... u get what i mean?.. erm.. i would go esp/ltd if i were u... i mean for 1.5... i would like to grab the dv-8 at davis...

but again... u want a floyd... i suppose u want something not radical... save up a little more... get the esp m-ll..

ESP is a japanese company. But there is an ESP in the US. Same company but sorta different region kinda thing. the LTD series are all made in korea or china. Those that are labeled ESP are made in the US or Japan.

Anyway since we're on this. Its roughly like this

In terms of quality and price

ESP Japan -> Edwards -> Grassroots

Edwards and grassroots are like Gibson / Epiphone different branding

ESP USA -> LTD

LTD is still ESP USA just a budget series.

If your getting LTD, i dun think many of thwm have active pickups, as always go try out the gear before buying

Hi but i think you are mistaken. The esp models in the USA and Japan are different, but as of a few years ago, Esp shifted their production in the USA to Japan. Esp no longer makes guitars in the USA.

The guitars with the ESP logo on them are now all made in Japan, while the Ltd guitars are Korean or Indonesian made.

Taken from the Esp website

What is the difference between ESP and LTD models? For example, the ESP DV8 seems so similar to the LTD DV8-R, but the price is significantly different!
ESP guitars are built in our main factory and custom-shop located in Japan. These are completely built and assembled by highly skilled craftsmen using the best parts & wood selection. LTD guitars are produced in our factories outside of Japan (currently Korea or Indonesia), and are manufactured in larger quantities using an assembly-line production method.

Ahh my bad, thought they still made them in the US.

come to think of it...ESP jap seems to have alot of sub-brands under it...like Edwards..Grassroot and Navigator...but davis seems to be shippin in mostly the ESP US and LTD models in...y izzit so?

Because they're both from the same place (Japan/Korea/Indonesia), but getting them is more easily done because it's in English? My speculations only though.

And ESP Japan also does Gibson and Fender copies under their Edwards, Navigator & Grassroots line; which we don't see over here. Apparently their Navigator line is just Strat/tele/lespaul/SG/explorer copies.

In terms of pricing(and therefore production quality) the ESP line is the most expensive, with the Japan line having alot more variety. The LTD USA is the rough equivelant of a combination of the Edwards & Grassroots lines, without the Fender/gibson copies.
