or just search "Seth Riggs", "speech level singing".

a whole chunk of how to sing videos.

very useful, even seasoned singer can pick up new tips and tricks.
i picked up a handful myself :)

to me, warm up's before any kind of singing is VERY important, especially in the long run.

Focusing on the diaphragm works for some people and not for others. It all depends on where your voice is now, and what your muscles do when you think "tummy out". So if it helps, great! But if it's making things worse, drop it and try another approach.

Have you got some recordings posted that I can listen to?

I got a short cover of Fly me to the moon cover just 27 seconds in open mic section.

No high section.

Thanks, I had a listen to your clip. Your voice is not one I'm familiar with, so I'm not too sure what's going on. I notice a few things though:

1. Your singing sounds both tense and "dull". I think those are related. The "exciting" sound in singing comes when your voice sounds free.
2. Judging by your vowels, your larynx is rising up. This makes you need a lot of force to hit higher notes, and also makes your lower notes tense. Fixing that isn't straightforward, there's no "quick fix". The problem is that as you lower your larynx, you also need to engage other muscles to connect your vocal cords again, so it's a tricky process.
3. Your singing is pitchy, but I think that will fix itself when you free up your voice.

If you can afford a teacher, get one :) If you can't afford a teacher, you can try the first exercise from those Seth Riggs videos on youtube (the "lip roll"). That may help you to relax your voice. Even better, make a recording of yourself doing the exercise and send it to me. Maybe i can hear something in that that I can't hear in the clip you posted.

you see, I don't really know how to do lip roll or lip bubble T.T

Hmm how about this... try thinking low or downwards when u sing high then then when u are singing low think upwards... anyway u have quite a serious nasal voice when u sing.. soo I think u can make it better by practicing singing with your nose pinch??...xD it should help better for your singing...xD

It's not easy :) It took me quite a while to work it out. Can you tongue trill? Like the rolled R sound used in many languages. The tongue trill can be used in place of the lip trill. If you can't do that there's other options too, I'll have to look them up though. The basic idea is to adjust the pressure in your mouth in order to make things easier on your vocal cords.

Bolgash, I used the "sing down when singing high, sing up when singing low" idea for quite some time, and it didn't work for me :( Does that idea work for you?

Sing down when singing high? I don't get it.

My lips and tongue ain't that active.

I really want to sing high, but I don't want my high to be "Forced" or "Sound like it is being PRESSED".

Yah it does for me... when i sing high i think low which like anchored it in such a way that I wouldn't feel that "stress"... while for singing down I think high up... so that I would feel like i got a wider space in my throat area... this concept works for me quite well.. :D

So when I am singing the high part, I deepen/lower my voice? Vice versa?

bolgash's method is a way to mentally "trick" your brain so u can reached the note easily without mental "stress".

normally we look at the musical scale like a vertical line, from bottom to top-low to high.

but if we look at it left to right-low to high, horizontally, it makes your mind envision the note you want to reach, and hence you produce it easier.

we tend to look upwards when we "tarik" notes, but looking side ways helps you get that high note without much pressure; mentally :D

of course, everybody has their vocal limits, dont push too much, you might damage your voice in the long run...

just a few tips that i use; tested and proven to work! :D
