Hi guys. I wasnt sure whether to do an intro in the intro section as I was just going to post here anyway. :D

First of all, this forum is great, and has some good info, great review on all the axes!(im genuine, not just brownosing lol). Thanks guys :D

Im from Aus and i will be in Singapore for the next week. I used to play thrash metal for some time now, and I guess Ive turned full circle, and now I LOVE playingthe blues. After listening to BB King, Robert Johnson, Robert Cray I absolutely love the sound.

Ive played a Gibson LP, and i love the clean tone and feel, but surprise surprise i cant afford one. My question is on my humble budget of less than $500(even that is stretching it) am I able to get a brand new epiphone/burny/orvile other copy? Must be NOT made in China, set neck, good build quality, "non muddy", neck wont warp. hmm am I asking too much? Or are there any similar alternatives which will give the LP sound? Ive read similar posts, it seems they are all above my budget. also swee lee are selling Chinese epiphones for $350 I believe, anyone tried these out?

Thanks guys for taking the time out to reply. :D hope to meet some of you too.

Cheers

Hello and welcome.
You can try Guitarworkshop, same level as Sweelee.
They offer good prices, you ought to be able to work something out with them.

first off, welcome to Singapore, mate!

:D

do you only want to buy a brand new guitar? or would u consider second hand deals? try this local music gear classified ads site.

Thanks mate, cheers for the warm welcome :D

I would consider 2nd hand, providing the condition is ok. especially the set necks.
Is there anything in particular that could pose a problem in these epiphones?

Cheers for the heads up on luther :D

well, do look out for some which have cracked necks or are in generally bad shape that no amout of polishing and cleaning up will rectify.. best is to meet to test out the guitar before making a decision... or u could spend a lil more and go to guitar connection at peninsula to check out some second hand guitars there..
