I need a Fuzz pedal!!

Fuzz is a HUGE territory. You gotta know what you're looking for. I'd basically divide very very vaguely into the following:

vintage (fuzz face)
vintage high gain (tonebenders, big muffs)
octavias (roger mayer, tycobrahe)
modified vintage (mayo, huckle, more mids or whatnot)
modern (fuzz factory on the more normal settings, my own fuzz)
crazy (E13, art lab, to do oscillations, sythlike, or ring mod-like sounds)

or some have a combination of the above, like goose's noise therapy or the fuzz factory.

Im looking for a fuzz tone that sounds like Joe Satriani's Cool #9 i think. Thanks

SAtch has no fuzz on his board i thought? The ultimate octave has a fuzz right? could it be that? otherwise satch has a ds1 and his amps dist.

I think its the octave though

I also not sure. I thought it was a fuzz pedal. I know he uses an octave pedal for the song "Super Colossal"

fulltone ultimate octave

this is what he has

either he used it or not you gotta sk him yourself then

There's no fuzz on Cool #9 no?

When Satch does use a fuzz, its for the octave up effect, hence the fulltone octave.

He DOES use a modded (dunno what mod) MIJ DS1 and that when used to BOOST might get a sort of fuzz-ish tone.

think the general term for old skool octave up pedals are actually fuzz pedals with octave up.

tychobrahe octavia
foxx tone machine

so is the ultimate octave an oldskool octave? if it is... its a fuzz.

theblueark, you mentioned the crazy fuzz pedal can oscillate right? which means it will produce weird squeaky noises when the knob is turned?

There are many ways to obtain oscillation. Some fuzzes can do it, or you can put a chorus, phaser or some modulation pedal into a feedback loop and get it too. I do some oscillations with a feedback loop in my chorus in my guitar in my youtube video in this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tANg4TXhBUY

Or the fuzz factory oscillation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjE-rPLjegM

Some will sound like whistling, some like synths, some like spooky alien ufos, lotsa fun stuff.

haha dude thanks alot...do u know of any oscillating fuzz pedal like below the price of 200 bucks? and whats feedback loop?

Ooo here's another nice one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLEkasB4yNI&mode=related&search=

A feedback loop is where you connect the out to the in. So whatever comes out goes back in which goes back out which goes back in which goes back out and....

(A)
(A)+(A)
(A+A)+(A+A)
(A+A+A+A)+(A+A+A+A)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAfffeeeeeeeedback

We try to control it with a pot, so that only a certain amount of out goes back into the in. Or it'd be insanely loud and annoying. Unless that's your goal.

woohoo for feedback loop

yo bro blueark, hows the 'custom feedback loop' that we discussed over at the mail. going good? hopefully to hear from u soon.

and take ur time, do the best :D
