plays guitar that well... One sample - http://www.youtube.com/?v=SB83JNGIr4U (Prince playing in Saturday Night Live).

All along, I thought he is much more into his own weird style albeit I know he plays tonnes of instruments...

Quoted from vai.com... Not referring to the SNL though... The thread :supz: :smt035
Did anyone here see this performance?

It was of 'While my guitar gently weeps'; Prince killed it. There was a group of guys playing including George Harrison's son.

It wasn't even rehearsed by Prince he was just given a tape; which he learned and then played. Clapton's version came NOWHERE near this.

For all those that are ignorant Prince= one of the greatest guitar players ever easily

And I din know he and Steve Vai so brother one... All I have had watched for Prince (while I was young) was his POP music...

Vai even gave him his Universe UV7P...

If you guys are interested, you can pick up an old copy of Guitar Player featuring Prince and read about him and his current status.

Off the top of my head: it's mentioned he uses Boss DS-2. Go figure.

hmmm

wow... hmmm... surely one guitarist i need to remember, he can realli express himself. can anyone tell me his full name?

Prince is underrrrrrated! Very very hendrix... his guitar hero.

Yeap, he uses boss pedals in his rig... imagine if he used better stuff... :D

Hehe.. have not read guitar player for ages...

Just saw on his pedalboard on a recent SNL performance, choke full of boss pedals...

it doesn't matter what he is using. Gary moore has a board full of DOD pedals, but that doesn't make his tone sound like normal.

Those musicians knows what they want, how to get the most out of the common stuff that some didn't like or thought cannot make it and since most of the time they are on the road, boss pedals are easily replaceable when lost or spoilt.

imho

what brundisium has said basically sums up what GP summarizes since Prince doesn't like to talk about Guitar & Gear.

Let's not forget the fact that guitar sound is the sum of the parts. A good amp is still going to be much more important than a boutique pedal or a 5K guitar.

And it isn't really what components used that matter that much. It's just what you hear is nice that matters the most.

Well, i totally agree with what you said Thor. Just that, so few think like that... the moment they see their idol use some silly pedal or guitar, they jump for it and don't realise the whole thing is really, the WHOLE thing.

That said. I need a tube amp. Damn.
