i recently sold off my tweed blues jr that was from Canada , it does hum even with the external transformer , would swapping the transformer inside the amp be the best option in taming the noise?

US and Canadian amps are often not grounded and this leads to hum in the amps - especially with the amount of fluorescent lights in Singapore!
If it is a grounded amp, but connected through a step down transformer (from your 240V Singapore power to the internal 110V) then the ground will be broken and the hum will return.
You really are stuck trying to get rid of the hum without running and earth line around the transformer to the socket (dangerous, but possible), rewinding the transformer for 240 specs or buying the 240 power trany (expensive). You could approach Fender/Swee Lee for the trany.
