anyone knows whats the difference with the Triamp MK II and the Triamp MK II Alxe Lifeson edition?
i can't tell the difference from the technical data sheet other than it has a crocodile style covering.

hahaha. well this post was kinda for him. and its thanks to him i've gotten the influence of the Triamp MKII.

MKII & Alex Lifeson
1. no reverb
2. 1/2 power switch
3. ch1a gain is the master vol, NO breakup. 100% clean tone
4. "tight" switch controls CH1a & b.
5. purple colour lights

MKI
1. Spring Reverb
2. no 1/2 power switch. if you want 1/2 power, just take put the 2 inner of outer tubes. it only decreases about 3 decibels. nothing much
3. tight switch control ch 1 & 2
4. Theres abit breakup on CH1a.
5. no purple colour lights

They are both really awesome amps. IT has all the gain you ever need. But if you need a little more, just kick in an OD, sd1 or ts9.

1/2 power switch means 100w - 50w switch

tight switch is to cut the low end. because usually they are by with 2x12 or 4x12, which has much low end on speakers side.

actually the triamp mkII has blue lighting and a different cover

the alex lifeson has purple lighting, a crocodile skin cover, alex lifeson signature and a few Rush "freebies"

there doesn't appear to be any difference other than cosmetic though, can't tell from the website. but since the most mentioned difference seems to be the colour of the lighting, i doubt there's any tonal differences between the two.

haha. i know about the cosmetics i was asking about the sound or stuff not mentioned. if my memory serves me well, i recall leecs saying that MKII sounds nicer than Alex Lifeson edition.

Well.. I recall people posting saying that the Alex Lifeson signature has a better selection of tubes (hand-picked) in it.. But tubes can be easily replaced lol..

OT: How much does the MKII cost? Damn, those soundclips make me drool. Oh, and is the MKII like super duper loud? What if I set it to 2 or 3, hah! Thanks! :P

Cheers,
WWH

MKII cost around USD3299 i think. Check out ishibashi u-box for MKI. these are very loud amps. Best part is that they have international voltage selector. No need transformer

apart from the hand-picked tubes. would there be any other difference? especially the tone...
so mainly i'll be paying for the cosmetics rather than tone?

errr. i checked japan. it should cost around 4k SGD. not too sure thou...
