Hi hiet ! just curious for sweaty palm or not. if ur hands sweats and ur neck is soaked in ur sweat what will happen to the wood in long run?
actually nothing much would happen.. all my fguitars have their neck finish stripped and i have really sweaty palms...after 2 years+ nothing has really happened except for it looking dirty..
well u can wet it alittle..raw wood would absorb the water while a finished neck will have the droplet of water just sitting there...or u an rub ur finger hard againt a piece of wood
and then rub your finger againt the neck..if its finished it will feel different..
normal necks wif finishes will not be really affected by sweat, but if u ever sandpaper the neck, the sweat/oil/dirt rubs off on the guitar producing a smooth finish.
haha the difference is very subtle..u wont be able to tell if its imbalanced or not unless u really got sand it alot lah..an alternative is to use chemicals to remove the paint.. but personally i just use sandpaper
wait wait, what exactly is your problem now?
You can use any guitar care product easily available at most well stocked guitar stores to clean of anything on your guitar.
I hope your not going to sand down your neck to get rid of stains.
When you say permanent damage, do you mean are you worried of the visuals or the tonal qualities of your guitar? Stains wont change the sound of your guitar. Stripping an entire finish off the guitar, the sealant as well as paint would, but even then most people probably would not be able to tell the difference.
Have you seen Rory Gallagher's or Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitars? Andy Summers? Wes Montgomery below his pickguard?
Hardly just stains.
