How to use a delay pedal properly?

what i meant, deepblue, is that you might not be playing in sync with the delays. sure u can set the delay time to suit the song (and it will give you perfectly-spaced repeats), but if YOU can't keep your picking/strumming tempo as consistent as the repeats from the delay, then it will be clearly out of sync.

no offense to your playing skills, just pointing out something you might not have realised since you are new to using delay :)

Ahh.. ok. I get what you mean.

Don't worry. No offence taken. My skills aren't great. That's for sure. And I guess you're right abt playing in an inconsistent manner so as to affect how the delay is being re-produced. :)

I have a DD3. Thats how i use it. I only use it for clean rhythm, and with a shorter delay time and lesser repeats, just to add some dimension to it. I don use it for dirty rhythm cos it will mud up the sound. For leads or single note playing, i ensure that the repeat is in the mix and not distiunguishable from the dry mix, unless i want a a "sound on sound" ie Brian May type of effect.
If i use a longer delay time,i cut down the fdbk or repeats, otherwise it will sound messy if it doesnt repeat at the time u want it to. I guess thats where the tap tempo of other delay pedals come in handy :)
