How To Make Your Own S$3.00 Hot Rod/Flap Sticks

How To Make Your Own S$3 Flap-Sticks – Equally As Good

Ok, here is how it all started.

I had my lunch today at Jurong East, and I happens to pop-In to a S$2 Shop at Jurong East…and there I saw the below (A Bunch of Wickers used for massaging the Back) – which an Idea came to my mind – to do a S$3.00 Custom-Made Flap-Stick…just some crazy idea that came to my mind suddenly.

The Wickers (in a Bunch) cost S$2.00, measuring 18inches in length (excluding the Wooden-Handle).

It’s Diameter (after I compressed the sticks altogether) in a bunch measures app. 3cm (wow – that’s thick enough to make 2 Flap-Sticks each 1.5cm in thickness) – The Big ones.

My Idea Of How To Make the S$3.00 Flap-Sticks:-

(1) We can easily cut these small little Wickers sticks into Respective Length we want (afterall it’s 1 ½ feet length) more than enough to make the longest Flap-Sticks you want.

(2) After this, we can Buy (A Rubber Hose – maybe Water Hose, or maybe some of you have even better idea – do contribute) - - - - cut it into 2 short equal length as a Grip for this Flap-Sticks .

(3) To insert the whole bunch of Flap-Sticks into the Rubber-Hose(eg Water-Hose – where there are so many colour to choose from and it’s very cheap for such a 2 short piece) – we can use (soap or detergent) something that will make the sticks slippery – when we 1st try inserting the sticks into that Hose (which is our handle).

(4) Lastly – we can use those (Rubber-Band in nice colours) where the girls use to tie their hair to tie the edge of the Flap-Sticks to hold them together.

This is your S$3.00 Flap-Sticks

I’ll bring these there to our Drum Xchange this 27th Sept Saturday, then we all experiment – and try to make our own S$3 Flap-Sticks ok … I don’t know if it will work ? hehehehe I guess so……anyway the S$2.00 (Massage-Sticks) is only 2 bus stop away from our DXS Meetup Place….so if you all wanna buy it – I can bring you all there to buy it.

Just have fun

Hmmm I think the tricky part is to cut all of them to equal length manually. Unless you have a machine then can cut precisely lah.

Comparison between Hot-Rods & The S$2 Wickers

Notice that the length (from the Actual Hot-Rods to the S$2.00 Bunch of Wickers) leftover is only about one inche long - - just nice - Please dont cut it too short

A Transparent Hose (fitted just nicely into the Original Hot-Rods (S$1.00 for 2 pcs) I bought 2 pieces of Rubber Hose which the length is cut exactly similar as the Vic F. Hot-Rods (from the Hardware Shop just across the DXS Meetup place - the CC) - 2 Transparent ones, 2 Green ones with Wire-Mesh, 2 Transparent with Wire-Mesh and I paid S$3.00 for all 6pcs

A Green Wire Mesh Hose (fitted just nicely into the Original Hot-Rods (S$1.00 for 2 pcs)

A White PVC Plastic-Pipe (fitted into the Original Hot-Rods (S$??? for 2 pcs) - This PVC pipe is only slightly bigger - so it's slightly larger than the Original Vic F. Hot Rods so to say.

Please only use Cuttter to cut it (not using a Pen-Knife) - - A Custom Made Furniture Exporter – A Tenant in my company building advice me. We can use fine-sand-paper to sand the wicker to smoothen it if we want too (Optional)

Yeah, I agree with you Mel (but this is still manageable if we are careful). Now my biggest worry is - - If after I've inserted the Bunch of Wickers into say - the Hose - that is suppossingly to be the Handle where we grip it - - - will the Bunch Of Wickers slip out of the Handle - it has to be real tight here.....

So on this - I am wondering (please help anyone with great ideas) )- Will the Hose (which is made of Rubber thus stretchable to a certain degree) make a Good-Handle that will hold all the Wickers - - - or we will probably need something that is harder eg The PVC-Pipe that will actually make a Better Handle....I really dont know ? - Guess we have to try it out to find out.

PS: - The Vic F Handle is made of Wood (hard & solid) - maybe we need something harder than a Rubber-Hose ??? I really dont know?

Cheers.

I think using rubber material (rubber hose etc) as the handle to hold the sticks together would be a better choice? It'll probably hold the sticks together more tightly together due to its elasticity.

Ehh Eric, I suggest that you can seperate this project into another thread. We are digressing too far from the original thread topic. Will be good to have a seperate thread on this subject (making rods) for future references too.

The nicest to-Be-Handle I saw is at my company's Toilet. A Broom Sticks (made by our Cleaner) - It's shines and have a nice design - It's Aluminium.

RD... go to hardware shop to buy the adjustable tightening ring which is meant for the hose to secure to the tap...

You mean use the Adjustable Ring to hold the Hose and Sticks Together izzit .... (don't look very nice ley got a nut there lah) Kekekekeke ... Also if clamp too tight will break the Wickers - you know lah the Quality of the S$2.00 Wickers are not as good as the Vic F. ones they are slightly smaller in diameter and softer..

Tell you what lah Bro, you are very so very creative (all of us knows that), -This comming 12th DXS Meetup on 27th Sept next week - - I bring all my Barang Barang there - - - you help me - Make a nice Looking Hot-Rod / Flap Sticks ok.
