Heyyy :)

Well im planning on gettin an Elitist Les Paul Custom next butthe only thing stopping me is the question if the guitar would turn yellow-ish shortly after~ its gotta be at least 95% perfect

How could i slow the process? do i store it in a hardcase with Crystals of all sorts that remove moisture or bags of charcocal that do the same thing?

Any secrets from any collectors out there?
THANKS

White guitar

Hey There,

Well my friend. The task you are asking is near impossible. Unless you almost NEVER take the guitar out of its case, it will eventually turn yellow. I have a top of the range drum set (I know its drums, but guitars are exactly the same) painted in what was called Arctic White, and even though I put them in cases and keep them in immaculate condition. After 16 years, it is starting to show signs of yellowing. Which is breaking my heart.

Vacuum sealed without light touching it may work, but what is the fun in that. ;)

Hope this helps

16 years sounds like a fair amount of time...
yea i know it'll eventually go yellow but not within a year i hope...

Constantly shower it with care and concern.... (and after 16 yrs repaint it white...)

Hahaha... no way can keep it immaculate one larz...

all white guitar eventually becomes yellow right?

just accept it.

even then, don't you like the yellowed white? its pretty sexay

i haf a g-400 alpine white for half a year and its the same as the day i got it.

reason for getting white instead of black is that i wear black most of the time and white looks really good on black

i was just wondering.... u think it would a gd idea to use this liquid alot of sneaker heads use to keep the clear soles of their kicks CLEAR. over time, the sole of clear soles, turn yellowish too.... usually u can find those liquids at boat shops... cuz apparently its actually for boats.

well.... just wondering... any chemist out there care to enlighten on this issue?

I use jim dunlop wax on my alpine white les paul custom and PGM3 and so far its been good. I have a fetish for white guitars and i do know that white guitars will eventually turn yellow. hence the color name: Aged white.

temperature and humidity plays a part as well. If your guitar is always stored in a cool constant temperature room, the color will not change dramaticly. Living in SG makes it close to immposiible with its climate maybe unless u have a special room with the air conditioner on 24/7..

well, thats juz my opinion

:D

i know alot of it has to do with the original paint, like for example ibanez changed the composition of their JEM white paints to 'super white' so it doesn't turn yellowww

I like white guitars too. But I let them turn yellow anyway. Its a natural process that every white or light guitar has to go thru. I personally feel it gives the guitar loads more character. Squeaky clean, white guitars that look new but are rarely played don't appeal to me yo...

I say let it age naturally.

Guitars get nicer and nicer as they age.

The yellow means - Vintage, Character, Long Use, Classic

The yellow means that man! It doesn't mean dirty!
