do what my band did before.
1. took transtar from lavendar 1-way to KL, than in KL buy 1 way. cheaper. KL-SG. 1 way = $60rm. theres a ton of cheap busses from $20 to $60. transtar, aeroline, 5ive stars, oddysseynow, nice, etc..etc..
2. how big is your gear, the band travel light, 1 guitar, 1 small gig board, 1 backpack clothes and what not. drummer got a few junk in the trunk, the band bought those go pasar dolley and tie up everyhing nicely and drag them around like luggage, avoid big or those trolley type luggage u will get your hand full, the dolley are useful tied up your guitar, board, follow by clothes
3. where is your hotel and gig venue, nego with the gig organiser for transport. 5, ppl need 2 cars. or prepare to get 2 cabs, cab will cost more than your sg-kl bus tickets. so nego if need too.car or van rental is expensive but save u the hassle.
4. get the cab no, if u take cab, and for gig day itself. ask them to come pick u up and fetch u back to hotel. if the gig organiser no van or transport than good luck!!!!
tip:
1. there is a few taxi co, u can call for a cab sunlight, etc.. google and get their no. cheaper than flag on the street and get slaughter. sometime they won't come but u can tambah $5 or $10 cheaper
2. depends on which hotel u stay and where is the gig. there are multiple busses that goes to sunway lagoon or bandar utama, or mont kiara, sometimes paying a bit more on the sg-kl saves u $ on cab
3. make friends and have good rapport with the gig organiser, my band was provided transport and we even got a mini entourage when we go shopping, etc..etc..we got $$$ from the gig as well, bring merchandise and sell them there ppl in KL buy CD's, t-shirts and merc more than those in singapore!!! so bring a box of merchandise.
4. get direct express bus even the cheapest is better than dragging your gear to larkin and score a jb-kl tix, most u save like $10++. and u going to spend a lot of time. get a express bus - stop at 2nd link, go to jb immigration clear customs, Sleep sleep sleep. stop at pagoh or jejatas, grab food, cheap ciggies, and next stop kl. easy peachy,
5.hotels require deposit, so again prepare credit cards or call in advance and work out the budget for the deposit needed and ask them to send u an email so the reception won't rip u off for high deposit, well happened to my band before coz they worry we going to trash the place up, lesson learned ;p. the high deposit might cost u band beer budget
6. trains vs bus. pro and cons. train long super journey, 8-10hrs type. but they got canteen on board and u guys can play uno or get 2nd class seats a bit ex but u can lay down and sleep. bus 5-6hrs. but price wise both are the same train 3rd class suck major balls. really its cheap but dun try it. some busses comes with power supply eg)transtar, aeroline, etc.. so bring a laptop and watch a movies but those busses also provide on board entertainment as well ;p
sorry that i am in singapore, if i am in kl. i can drive u guys around. LOL
and have fun. dun forget to visit bentley music at curve/damansara there, its AWESOME!!!!!
