How to get some tones?

Hey guys, I've been wondering how to get tones of yellowcard and slash of velvet revolvers (not exactly the GnR tone).
I mean like listen to ocean avenue, it has a rather "tight" distortion. What I mean is that despite the palm muting, there isn't too much fuzzing. I just hate too much fuzzing. Also hate the muddy tone. Just doesn't bring out the character of a guitar and spoils the tone. Please, I've been searching high and low but can't seem to find an answer.

I thought that a Boss MD-2 pedal would help but it didn't help much. Although it has the ability to produce rather good tone but not what I have in mind. so thanks loads yea?

If you want their tone, you gotta get exactly the same rig... But if you just want it tight, you might wanna go 'shopping' and try out as many pedals as possible because different pedals have different characteristics. Some are 'fat' sounding and some are 'tight' sounding, etc.

Hope this helps!

well no one can really tell you that actually.
it all depends on your instruments.

your guitar, the wood, pickups.
though its a minute thing.
it still affects how you set your sound.

plus theres so many different stompboxes out there.
just try.
music is a journey of learning...

plus its how you pick and fret too..
