How high/low do you play your guitar?

Just wanna ask around.. Cos I've been practicing on my guitar sitting down so it's kinda high, and I'm not really used to it being low when I stand up to play, I can't play as well.
 
then play it high, I should be playing high too. I once tried playing low during a performance, screwed it up mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
 
dun worry abt looking uncool if u wear ur guitar high. one of de best players in de field wears it unbelievably high. hes none other than dream theater's john petrucci. he wears it high cos he wants to be able to use the classical style of playing which enables him to execute all de proper techniques. i wear my guitar high too. hey i was like u last time too. cant play properly. but now i spend most of my time standing up and practicing. do so esp if u plan to do loads of gigs. :D
 
high for me.. though i look like a fool.. coz my big belly protude out on the bottom.. hahahahahah anyways i want my lines to sound proper and precise..so high is for me.. no matter how shitty it looks..
 
I wear it high.

Although my DiMarzio Cliplock cotton strap, even at it's highest, is kinda low. So i'm gonna cut it shorter by 5cm, and thus the length will be the same as the DiMarzio Cliplock nylon strap. Hopefully it'll sove my problem.

Which reminds me... I have no idea whatsoever how those punkers play their guitars. I mean, they wear it so low that its around their knees, man! :x
 
Too low, you most likely look like a punk poseur.

Too high (Yes, there are those who wear it higher than Petrucci) and you risk looking like a geek.

So I choose the middle ground, slightly higher than waist area. :smt001
 
Personally i think the guitar should be at the most comfortable height. duh.

Like, if you're most comfortable playing it while sitting down, then chances are you're gonna like it if you adjusted the guitar so the height while standing up = height while sitting down.
 
I choose to be different, extremely low, at the hip region, yet still playing lead. Sure I'm a little handicapped, but if James Hetfield can do it... well :D
 
well. i alwaes to play it low like slash. but i find it akward. and my fingers are short cuz im short. so hard to plae lead with my guitar so low. so now i wear around stomach area. slightly higher though. :wink:
 
James plays lead in SOME live performances... Looks nice the way he does it, low and in control. not as good as kirk, although kirk wears it high (better control)

aniwae wats the point of looking cool and screwing up at a gig? haha.
 
i go for middle, balance between looking cool and playing comfortably. Still must look cool on stage one.
 
I'm not playing it low like punk rockers la. That's absolutely retarded.. :D I won't even be able to play anything past the 12th fret on the high E string I bet, haha. I'm trying to play low as in like the vai/satch/maiden/kirk height, but I feel a little uncomfortable cos I will hit the wrong strings when I alternate pick, but can be solved with a little practice I guess.. The bolt on area at the heel gets in the way as well when I play anything around the 15th to 22th fret. I used to wear it a little high (same height as when I sit down to play) but I realised I looked a like a geek, and my arms tire easilly.. So yeah. As that lead from electrico said, rock guitar should be played at crotch level, nowhere else. Haha..
