Just changed from Starhub to Singnet 6Mb Broadband plan. Don't see any speed increase. Hmm... in fact, phone became noisy and Internet gets cut when I pick up my phone from another point.

Anyway, did a speed test and this is my result. http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/ShowMeasurement.php?ID=61,112,541

sleepykitty + HarrisonYeo, what ISP/plan are you using? Pls add that into your post?

hifi_killer, ya got use micro filter. hmm... will swap with another unit to make sure it is not causing the slowness.

another test

Local (useless):

Overseas:

Outside w/ M1's Vodafone Huawei device..not bad. Now they upgraded it to unlimited, previously was 5GB limit. I can now stream multimedia on the go

Back at home I'm on Starfug Maxonlag Premium. Supposedly 12000Kbps, but during peak periods it's worse than the M1 which is just 512Kbps (only from 2am to 11am i can get 700 to 1400KB/s). However both have high latency, which only Singtel can rival with just 100 to 250ms anywhere overseas. I don't mind though, multiple streams is what cable and shared bandwidth is for and MOL handles that well enough. Download 10 files simaltaneously and see the difference.

Mr James, which Starhub plan were you with? And that's a very high latency you have there..

network noob here.

Will using a wireless router slow everything down? Thats what I've been experiencing ever since I added in a wireless router.

whats the distance between your pc and the router?
your are using wireless card??usb type??

My laptop is usually like side by side with the router.
I'm using the built in wireless on the laptop.

Reason why I bought the router was me and my girl both need to use the net sometimes but the connection is slow even when only one is accessing it.

Just regular surfing, no online gaming or other stuff.

Youtube gets cutoff halfway all the time. sighs....
