How did NS affect your practice?

ns didnt make a difference at all in my playing cos i brought my acoustic after my 2 week confinement in bmt. and yes there are some ppl in camp who only wanna learn guitar to play love songs that can woo girls...but then again, they'll all give up b4 finishing a verse so dun bother with them. another thing is i got lucky since i was in pes c. bmt spend most of the time in bunk practicing cos i cant do any endurance training or whatever shit, then in unit any time between 6 to the time i sleep is spent with the guitar. didnt get to learn songs in camp cos...no guitar pro and i dun wanna spoil my ipod replaying parts of a song like 20 times just to get the right chord :p

Funny thing is I don't know why I stopped playing, when it was in that 2 years that I purchased my most expensive gear. I guess I moved on to do other stuff(went back to the gym after I ORD'ed and now I'm into Muay Thai).

practice in camp a lot, managed to learn cliffs of dover and manhatan by eric johnson during basic training

It really depends on the individual. My interest in guitar totally died when I got posted to unit. When I first got enlisted, coming home for 1 and a half days a week, I couldn't waste my time practicing guitar. So I kinda half-quit. When I got posted to training school, it was stay out so I continued my guitar playing. However, it all ended when I entered an armour unit. For over a year I kept my Jaguar in the case. But now, as I am enjoying my ORD leave and off (ORD LO), I am starting to play guitar again, though much less than my school days, cause I got other interests now.

My first serious band was formed when I was in pre-u 1 ... when we went for NS my keyboardist (He was my lead guitarist then) kena posted to Taiwan ... and the band went into "relax one corner " mode ....

Then when I was perm staff in safti - met several music minded ppl including the armskoteman from Alpha co who set up his drumset in his bunk .. I brought my guitar over & soon we were jamming away .. the dudes from the Muslim cookhouse too were regular late night jammers ... my only fond memory of ns - really ...

i've only been in NS for 10 weeks and i've already felt the squeeze. i can only practice my drumming every weekend, and my weekends are pretty tight. before you know it, it's time to book in already. like today. omg weekends fly by too fast, man.

lol...its like that...u'll get used to it. saturdays fly by and u get the blues on sunday. b4 u know it, monday is here and it lasts forever haha!!

oh so short?? didnt know haha!! i'm pes c so my bmt was only 7 weeks haha. but anyway...ORD LOH!! LOL!! just 3 weeks back :p

actually, i think keyboard should be no problem out of bmt.. just needa find one corner in bunk to place it for comfortable playing. i've never encountered one before though.. musicians are rare in NS!!

Just before I ORD, things were pretty relaxed, at least for me. I actually brought in my Roland ep7e (76 key semi-weighted digital piano) with a keyboard stand. Played it at night during stay-in.

wow your bunk got space for 76 keys w stand ah? 4 men bunk? haha

oh, come to think of it, i did have a friend who brought in a keyboard but i think it was a 61 key one!
