High-end Recording Studio

we all wished.

well, i hope this will widen our knowledge of how vast the world of audio engineering is about. it IS a tough business. high investment and low returns. especially in singapore.

yea haha.. the reason i want a "high-end" studio is to get high quality kinda recordings that can match with international instrumental CDs. as for players side, i'll be hiring proffesional sessionists so that shouldn't be a problem, the thing now is which studio has the state of the arts eqquipment as well as friendly and skilful engineers that i can work with  thank you all for your suggestions.

hi tera. i suggest either you go with the popular studios such as snakeweed or studio 101 (malaysia) or search out for the studio with the best equipment possible and you do the role as a producer, get the engineer to do what you want. (in a case of conflicting ideas with the engineer, you might as well call the shots) . then after recording a nice clean you can try passing to another good mixing engineer, and send it somewhere out there in the world to master it. after all, highly likely someone out there has more exposure and experience. just watch the budget thats all.

it's true everyone has their own favourite studio, but in my opinion, maybe the one with the best compromise counts? compromise as in , the one with the most votes from normal consumers , band guys , audio engineers and most important , from YOU.

you can get your stuff to sound good but maybe it'll sound killer to a mixing engineer based on the art of mixing, but the one's paying for your cd , the end-consumer doesn't like it (they call it radio friendly i guess..). the posts, debates, fights, etc here in this thread can only help you gauge a better decision on where your money is gonna be best poured in.

Been to couple studio and i'm pretty impressed with bluetailrecords for the equipment they use. analog mixing, real warmth. Do visit them and check out their mix, pretty decent.
www.myspace.com/bluetailrecords

Ha ha ha..don bother with Bluetaill..i heard their Sins of a Curse album..and it sucked big time..having the equipment does not mean you will get world class recording..u need to know how to use it first....And as for Snakeweed..i think their studio is famous only cos they record the big bands here but they are not that good..it still cant compare to an international recording....sad tosay...for 70/hr..i expect a recording to be at least compared with international standards.

Ok BiasJames, i would like to thank u for creating this opportunity for me to clear off the misunderstanding about Sin of a Curse album.

first of all, Sin of a curse album wasn't even mixed by BluetailRecords in the first place.. hehe, only recorded in the studio n datz abt all n i dun even have any idea who mixed it..!!! And of coz, there is also a producer for their recording.. so i am merely pushing the faders n turning the knob as being told to suits producer preference. SO BRUDDER, u gt all ur facts wrong this time..!!!

Secondly, check out my MYSPACE page.. www.myspace.com/bluetailrecords n please preview the mix real carefully dis time n please do compare with watever or wicever u have to.. n tell me again if i noe hw to use my world class equipment. n if u have more time, please do check out the comments too about the sound. And those r my real mix without having any second opinion from anyone else.

Thirdly, i would like to thanks too for the bad n good comments from anyone about BluetailRecords.. coz more bands have actually log in to my myspace page, www.myspace.com/bluetailrecords n preview my mix n seems like i got more enquries n most have actually booked for their recording... AWESOME..!!!

Cheers
Ross

Hei Ross, don't bother about this depriving kid biasjames.
this dude probably didn't get much attention from his mummy and daddy, that is why he is seeking it all here : )
anyway bro, salute to you for Morphfest too, you may lose the dough but you have all the support and respect from many bands now.
wish you all the best bro as when you're popular now, many would wana pin you down too, ESPECIALLY YOUR COMPETITORS.
just let your SUPER DUPER HIGH END studio impressed many and the quality of your MIX talks and you'll do just fine

anyway just to mention this. is it really about high end equipment, or the tone/sound that you're able to get (or the studio is able to provide) thats the catch when it comes to individual preferences.

looking at what bias james has mentioned, probably every studio (like a human being of course, engineers aren't robots) have their own character and sound that caters to everybody's preferences. (i'm sure i've talked about this in my past posts) play in a jazz/funk band, go myx, play in a metal band, go myx/blackisle , play in a *core band, go tnt, play in an alt poprock band, go loft, you want radioplay, go snakeweed. and if you like playing with yourself. stay in your room. etc etc etc

so peace, useless debate.
