High-end Recording Studio

mmm... why don't we define high end?
Having SSL mixer with different pres and a well tuned studios or having a renown sound engineer or both?
and having good studio does not means "GOOD ALBUM". alot is in the human factor. if the source is bad, is bad... if the engineer is bad, is bad.... if the musician is bad, is bad.... if the producer is bad, is bad.... no studio in the world can save your project if you can't find the weakest link. ;)
ofcause, getting the right people to do your album is important. go to someone who you like, like if you heard a album that you like which suit your musical needs, go to the producers or studio, they might help you to go a step further....
follow your own path, don't let other drag you to their path. :D

so biasjames, any reccomendations for recording studio?
Well you do home recording?? Then why the sudden decision to switch? you will have other issues like conflicting interest with the studio engineer then..anyway my recommendation is Myx studio (stuck up sometimes), MusicZone (quite far) or Blackisle (Stuck up sometimes also)....but of course you can try TIET or that Liquid place...(dun know the exact name)...
Just choose the top 2 u think is ok and record 1 song each in their studio and then you will know which is worthwhile doing the whole album with..

wtf? so u mean people who record stuffs at home shouldnt go to proffesional recording studios? i want to release a high quality proffesional album, if i dont go to one proffesional studio, then go where? invest in my own?

biasjames really dunno what he's talking about. TIET's recording facilities aren't even fully up yet and it's definitely a far cry from snakeweed or any other professional recording studio. that place just offers a way to catch your jams, with the stuff that they are setting up. nice place to jam though.

he asked for quality recording studio just feed him with the answers his needs. i mean he got his idea and he knows what to do at this maturity so why must ask why he want to get into this recording?

plus his music is nice what, he just want realism and accurate recording. since he got the budget for that, hope you pple just supply him the links :)

goodie luck

IMHO, engineer and musicians are the same... there's no best engineers or best guitarists... just engineer who can do their jobs and understand most on the music that is going to be recorded.... is like a guitarist can be very good in Rock but when you ask him to play jazz, other guitarist would be better in the feels and technique.

:)

As long as the engineer knows how to maximise his equipment.
Different engineers are better at certain genres.
Just use your ears to judge la.
You can't expect every studio to use a Neve console or a Lexicon either.
Don't forget another important process. Mastering which is very expensive too....

biasjames...get out of singapore and find a recording studio lah since its so hard for you to find high end recording studios here. i know for sure overseas, they have better quality studios.

For your info, my brother is a proffesional musician, and according to him there are no higher end studios than snakeweed's in singapore. I won't say who he is, but he knows his shit and i trust him. Peace

from what i can conclude, everyone is debating of their "best" studio. so the best is to go down to the studio itself and see and hear for yourself to see what matches your needs. Of course, in the first place, the studio must be well eqquiped. Even if u got the best engineers and musicians, if ur eqquipments suck, the quality wont be able to match.

wed

And at the end of the day Even if u find and get to record at a high end studio, if u a lousy player, stil wont change anything.
